I've always found this statement by JJ Redick to be quite comical, the NBA's expansion during MJ's era was only 72 players. 😂 The expansion by adding the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004 and the expansion of active team rosters over the years, the NBA actually has 192 more active... players now from when MJ was winning titles. And when you take this even further and factor in all the rule changes, the load management, the addition of the gather step, the lack of physicality/defense, the addition of the hand-check and 3-second rules, which has allowed more spacing. Also the playoffs back then were harder. The first round was best of 5. Coming back from 1-1 or 0-2 in a best of seven is easier than if it were best of 5.

is it worse to have bad teams that play hard? or half the league trying to lose at the end of the year like they do now Because if the expansion teams count against MJ's era, then tanking should count against all player stats now

1/2 of the teams (15) this season finished with sub.500 records, 5 made the playoffs/play in. This is with 15 man rosters, the GLeague and NO expansion teams. Thats the very definition of watered down
