Say what you want about the government and foreign policy. There is plenty to critique. But I am proud of my son’s accomplishment and willingness to serve.

Excellent post and point! People who can't celebrate your triumphs, regardless of their POV, are empty souls. I'm happy for both you and your son. Congratulations, and I wish your son well.

Congratulations to your son and to you & your family. It is a proud moment for certain. And as always your wit and humor is greatly appreciated.

Those who almost served always have an opinion about the military should operate and veterans always almost listen.

I love it:) Congrats on your fine son. My mom was born at Fort Benning and my granddaddy retired there. It’s a little nostalgic.

I'm as anti-war and anti-interventionist as they come (after serving 7.5 years) but I would never think to disparage those who raise their hand to serve. We need a military, but imo to protect our borders, it's probably the only viable reason to have a government is to protect us from foreign invasion.
