I’ve been dying to learn chess, and got this sick electronic chess board called ChessUp for Christmas. You can play AI or people online, but also has tutorials to teach you, from beginner to expert. It lights up to show you moves, where to place things, etc. Awesome product.

This week, I used Grok Build to make a personal website and also to build a 3D space chess game. Where you can actually play against AI. It's TONS of fun! What should I make next? You can see the projects here:

Here’s the keynote from the World Chess Championships for rapid and blitz held last week in NY. I was asked to speak about my career and also to compare Chess, Blackjack, and Poker with investing. I’ve been asked so many times to talk about this topic and I tried really hard to take it further than before. I hope you enjoy…

Qullamaggie on You Learn From Pain and Experience “Well, you know, you can always watch, but you have to develop that skill yourself. I’m here for motivation and inspiration. I can’t remotely teach you stuff like how to manage emotions and things like that. Look, you learn from pain. That’s how you learn—you don’t learn this stuff from books or by watching a stream or a YouTube video. You can always get setup ideas and things like that to implement in your trading, but the hardest part—which is dealing with emotions, second thoughts, fear of missing out, and stuff like that—has to be experienced.”

Chess board delivered to Joseph as a gift from his friend Buzor IbusaBoy . Ended up hanging out with them for a few hours and played a lot of very interesting games. They tried to give Chess master wine to forget his moves, but I still found the winning moves. Lol

Have you ever wanted to learn one of the oldest and most beautiful strategy games in the world? It’s called Go also known as Baduk in Korea or Weiqi in China. It’s been played for over 3,000 years, and it’s simpler to learn than chess but incredibly deep #go #baduk #weiqi

For a while i been selling EventRider, it's a compact toolkit designed for hosts and event organizers who want more control over their events directly from their avatar. From guiding participants and displaying announcements to managing lines, gathering points, countdowns, and event branding, it brings several useful hosting tools together in one easy-to-install package. It includes: -Simple notifications to get event participants attention and inform them about things. -You can control those by gestures on desktop (Shift-Function keys) -You can also control position and size of notification -Notifications won't show up on people camera by default, but you can enable them to show -Gathering pointer which allow to show where you to people to gather -Pointer to point at things you want to show to participants -Line you can set to show where people need to line up or line you don't want them to cross -All 3 tools above can be shown without notification -Show logo of event in participants cameras, which also dynamically change depending on camera orientation -You can enable pointer which shows from anywhere where you are, so participants can find you easily -There also countdown timer you can show with notification Installation is super easy via VRCFury, just drag prefab in to avatar and it works. Package includes xcf file (gimp) which you can edit text of notification. You can also chance background image and top logo too as well if you edit animation change colors of notifications. Only downside is it will make avatar "Very Poor" due to huge extent boxes needed for this system to work It costs 30$, for legal reasons currently i sell it as a commission. So if you interested please contact me here or on discord, tell me your paypal and i send you invoice and on e payment is done i will send you an invite to the discord server that contains the asset and support to it. #vrchat

.David Deutsch: "What's currently called AI and AGI are not only different from each other, they are very close to being the exact opposites of each other. The reason is that an AI, current AI is like an AI that diagnoses diseases or an AI that plays chess or an AI that controls a huge factory. Those things have objective functions, that is they have a function that they are designed to maximize and that is why they are used in those particular applications. Or in military terms, you could say the objective is to hit the target. You might say the objective is to hit the target unless some thing specified, but it's a specified thing comes up in which case don't hit the target and so on. This is, as I said, almost the opposite of what humans do when humans think. For a start, the AI has to be obedient, that is it has to actually do the things it is programmed to do, whereas a human is fundamentally disobedient, especially when being creative. When a human plays chess, they are performing a completely different kind of computation. They don't do the same things, they don't investigate the same possibilities that the artificial chess playing machine does, because the artificial one is capable of looking at billions and billions of possibilities, whereas the human can only look at hundreds or something. They are doing something completely different. Another difference is that the human can explain, can write a book later, having become world champion, can write a book saying how I did it, as the computer program that beats the world champion can write no such book, because it has no idea how it did it. It was just following a program. I was doing this and that and that and none of that is illuminating. Also, third thing, the chess player can decide I don't want to play chess anymore, from now on I will play Go or from now on I will play tennis. If commanded to play chess, the functionality will deteriorate completely. Those things are different. What we want in an AGI is that it behaves in a way that cannot be specified in advance, because if you specified it, you would already have the answer. The AGI program has to give unexpected answers, answers to questions we didn't even know how to ask."

This might be the future of education! 🤯 I decided to test the GPT-Live-1 API and built a real-time chess instructor It uses Stockfish under the hood to always give you accurate moves You can interrupt the conversation at any time, and it will always provide up-to-date guidance on how to play using its backend capabilities It is a very nice use case for it!

Playing professional chess is not the usual path to becoming Governor – but it taught me many life lessons including learning from your losses, how to take calculated risks, and the importance of always having a plan. Thank you to the Washington Chess Federation and the Eastside Oly Chessclub for hosting me at the inaugural Governor’s Cup Chess Tournament. It was great to meet the next generation of Washington chess players and I hope this tradition continues for years to come.

Cool new way to render text. Spun up a quick demo to play with and learn more: Tip: In Replit, you can just link to repo and ask for demo. 😎 Not only will you get cool demo, but you can also as Agent to explain it. Helpful for CS newbies like me! 😅

I just "vibecoded" a Chess master (~2250 ELO) from scratch that runs locally on a Mac in Rust. I used to play chess semi-competitively, and I'm flabbergasted that you can just speak a 98% percentile chess engine into existence.

Comedian Samay Raina looks surrounded by people, laughter and fans in front of the media and on his show, India’s Got Latent. But his personal life is completely different. He is single, lives alone, and has no friend to even play chess with. That’s why Samay Raina bought an automatic chess board that moves on its own, and he spends 4-5 hours every day playing chess against it. This is the side of celebrity life we rarely see. On camera, they look surrounded by people, but behind the cameras, they can sometimes be completely alone.
