I have watched and listened to TK as he evolved and tested phraseology on the @theallinpod and other places. He’s impressive. He is in many ways a marketing genius. However, I think Atoms is exposing TK to a large degree of following and not leading. Manufacturing is way harder than is being represented and the VC route will demand returns that will not come in the way he projects if he is being a true industrialist.

@travisk Does @facebook @instagram @tiktok_us etc. serve people? 🤔 I'd argue that it's using them more than serving them. It manipulates them to stay on the platform, and monetizes their presence.

Many writers will tell you to "write for yourself." Mitch Albom has sold over 40 million books, and he writes 98% for readers, not himself: "I don't worry about what interests me per se. Like if you ask me what's a passion of mine — I like 50s doo-wop rock and roll. I listen to it almost every day. I'm not writing a book about doo-wop music because I don't really see a great way to make that interesting to a large number of readers. I think about things that people want to explore in themselves. And then I say, okay, are these things that I have something to say about, or I have some knowledge about, or I'm curious about myself? And when those overlap, when one that I'm curious about overlaps with something that I think readers will be curious about, that makes the list. What doesn't make the list is just because I'm interested in it. It's a business. You're putting out books and you're trying to get people to read them, and it takes you a year or two of your life to do it."
