In a recent interview, Eminem has opened up about ongoing tension with Dr. Dre over ownership of Shady Records. “I’ve been asking for a bigger ownership share in Shady Records. We co-founded that label back in 1999, and I’ve been a major force behind its success for over 25 years. I feel I deserve more control. I’ve carried a lot of the weight for this label over the years. The artists, the success, the longevity I’ve put in the work. But Dre doesn’t see it that way. He acts like he’s already been more than fair, but the truth is he always wants to keep the power to himself. People see Dre as this wise, calm mentor figure, but behind closed doors he’s controlling and selfish when it comes to business. He doesn’t like giving up ownership in anything Aftermath, Shady, none of it. He wants to stay on top while everyone else stays underneath. I’ve respected him for a long time, but this situation has shown me a different side of him. It’s causing real tension between us, and I’m not going to pretend everything is fine.”
