I've been playing with a feature for my prose editor, I call "ghost cut". Y'all know how to cut and paste. You hit ctrl+x, the text disappears and goes into the clipboard. Then you move the caret and ctrl+v to paste it into a new location. You've done that... a bazillion times, I bet. An annoyance I have with this is that as soon as you cut, the text reflows—and you have to reorient yourself in the "page". The solution I'm playing with is to ghost the text that was just cut. It only disappears from view once you paste it. I'm kinda liking it so far. But there is more testing to be done. Does anyone know of any precedence for this? I've not seen this in any editor or word processor.show more

This scene in Ghostbusters is not how I remember it as a kid. I feel certain that I watched a version on VHS as a kid where Venkman busts into swing track here. But on all versions I’ve ever seen after has a cut straight to the bank scene.. And the music edit does seem to cut abruptly. However I’ve looked and looked.. and cannot find any evidence to this online. It possible I imagined it. But I thought I’d check to see if any of you had seen this? Or please forward this to anyone that might be able to shed light.

Greetings. I've just pressed the option key and now I am holding it, which is why you see that small reddish capsule at the top of my screen, flashing in synchrony with my voice volume, etcetera. Anyway, I hope that didn't somehow clip the audio. The reason I'm doing this is to show off the fact that I've integrated NVIDIA's new parakeet, or relatively new parakeet, voice transcription speech to text model into Hex, my open source free Mac audio transcription tool. And Parakeet is ridiculously fast, so I will stop rambling in just a moment and release the option key, and it will transcribe and paste into the text box. So yeah, that was very fast. Faster than Whisper. Certainly faster and more accurate than Mac dictation. Uh so yeah, give it a shot and enjoy. The download link to Hex will be uh pasted beneath this transcription.

After having an amazing stream tonight, it sucks that I have to bring attention to the Elephant that was dropped off in the room this morning. With Tofu Chris needing take a break from socials, due to unwarranted backlash, I felt as if this was my breaking point with a problem I've seen going since chapter 5. The hyper-fixation of negativity in the Fortnite space is something that has not just been wearing on me, but my small little slice of the community as well. I love Fortnite, the devs that work on it, the content creators I've met, and the many lifelong friends this game has given me, but there is clearly a huge issue with the community consuming drama. I gave my full thoughts on the state of the Fortnite community today in my newest longform. If you care to hear what I have to say, the link in my bio will take you to my channel where you can view things for yourself. I don't hate anyone in this community, or wish harm on any person, but that lack of respect for others who are just trying to help and make things better from creators to devs, make it difficult for me to want to be as involved in the Fortnite space as I once was. A little bit more on my Novel editor. One of the things I loath about word processors is that they are so unaware of how prose is structured. They treat the line as the most atomic unit of text. But writers think in words, sentences, and paragraphs. Never lines. The editor I am working on has navigation tools for word, sentence, paragraph, and scene. You can navigate and move content at each level. All from the keyboard with some intuitive hotkeys. A pointing device like trackpad or mouse engages the part of your brain that processes spatial input. That's not where you want to be when writing. It can take you out of your flow state. And it is physically quite slow because your hands must move away from the keyboard. So I'm rethinking editing with the keyboard. It's not hard to learn, and it makes editing faster. I haven't been using it long and already I'm barely reaching for the trackpad. Follow me to be the first to try this out. #WritingCommunity

Zack Snyder on his dyslexia: "It was a challenge for me when I was, you know, young in school, and all I wanted to do was make movies because that was the thing that I got great pleasure from and reward from. I love books, and I'm an avid reader, but I just have a hard time because of the way that I perceive. "I've had a great sort of - one side of me anyways - was really satisfied by art and drawing and sculpture and sort of visual expression. And I think that that started to, you know, was the thing that kind of made me feel un-frustrated. My English teacher in high school was worried about what my career would be, and I'm like. He would be happy to know that I'm in the Writers Guild of America now. "But, I think that that all those things are, they're all... you can transcend all those things with perseverance and with interest and with with help. And I think that that's an important part of it. "And I just think I've had to adapt, and sort of... I have my own style of the way I write, I write all, you know, but I'm pretty prolific. And I love- I listen to tons of audio books on tape, unabridged hours and hours and hours. That's all I do when I'm driving in the car or wherever I'm doing. And it's helped me a lot. "And yeah, I mean, I just hope that anyone who is- feels trapped or frustrated by the world in general. You know, they need to just, I think that we all have like a magic spark, and you need to just find the thing that makes you, you know, inspires you and, and gets you excited and pursue it as hard as you can find your passion in the world. That's a, that's a great motivator."
