I’m afraid those days are behind us. Gone with ZIRP. Free money made Uber cheap and easy for many years but now the real costs have set in. Cruise is owned by GM, and I’m sure they’re pouring money in, but it’s not a softbank-backed moonshot.

@SalvoMortgage It’s not the car per se, but the sensor gear on top. Waymo uses Jaguars. Zoox are Lexus Tesla doesn’t use LiDAR. All the actual self driving cars do. Gotta be many years before the compute and sensors improve enough for Tesla to be close to FSD without LiDAR.

I don’t think I will use driver driven Uber again. Future of the ride hailing is driverless. Tried Waymo in the Bay Area and it’s a much better experience than regular Ubers. India will have to wait a lot longer I guess.

The problem isn’t the films. It’s the cost of concessions. Everyone wants popcorn and a drink at a movie. But when popcorn is $12, drinks are $8–$9, and snacks are $6+, a simple movie night suddenly costs a fortune. People aren’t staying home because of the movies. Last year, I went to Mexico City and taught AI tools to a small group of filmmakers and artists. My favorite moment in was when I walked away from the group and came back to find this artist crying because she had finally been able to visualize a story she wanted to produce since she was a teenager. She called her mother immediately to tell her. These are the moments I live for. This is incredibly inspiring. And this is happening all over the world. It’s beautiful.

Tried a window washing robot for our vacation rental Fable Sonoma because it has so many big windows and it’s $600 every time they’re cleaned. It wasn’t good enough to replace human washers yet but seems like a problem that will be solved sooner than later. The robots are coming.
