I've been teaching the whole A Level chemistry course this year and I've found it v hard - lots of stuff I've never done, and much I haven't done for >10 years. Planning has been the most important thing, and it starts with my notebook:

Everything that will eventually go on the board goes in the book. Blank canvas models, sequenced examples and checks for understanding. I have it open next to me as I teach.

I then prepare my OneNote. It's mostly blank, and then gets filled in the lesson. I prepopulate some items like specific questions. Lesson progresses overall vertically, but explanations and checks generally go horizontally.

This is then all supported by Carousel, which means students learn stuff over time. Today I gave the class 15 marks worth of straight exam questions with no warning. Topics were from before the break, as long as 10 weeks ago. Average score was 14.5

So yeah it's been hard and a lot of work, but I've enjoyed the challenge. I'm iterating loads for next year (notebook helps here too) so also know I'm getting a bit better over time

I've done nearly 20,000 workouts in my life, and I've seen what works for all levels. I created a free workout guide to show you what works, whether you're a beginner or advanced.

How have you managed to avoid it?

Just organic! Been in chem heavy depts. Only chemist now.

If you need any resources happy to share!!

I've been working on this thing on and off for a little over 2 years now, and I think I'm finally going to call it done. Everything was done by myself, except a couple of materials & the song. Link below #TheAmazingDigitalCircus
