We don't have a 'crossing the street' license because that would be ridiculous The same is true of requiring a license to interact online If the state broadcaster was a person, they would be an idiot, surrounded by idiots

Folks, the point is not the licence as much as the learning that leads up to it. Of course it isn't enforceable. That's not the point. The point is to learn how to be safer in the online world which has its own unique hazards. I did not know about the existing ECLD or ICLD effort

I see the BBC are using our taxpayers' and licence-fee-payers' money to campaign for more Internet censorship.

Colleagues from The National Computing Centre listening to @BBCr4today will be thinking 'Nothing new under the sun': the PC Driving Test was introduced by NCC in the late 1980s...and then there was The Green Surf Code launched for Gibraltar's cyber conference in 2017... 🙈

@bbcnickrobinson An internet ‘driver’s licence’ is basically what children should be learning anyway: critical thinking. Don’t believe something just because it is loud or looks nice. Does it make sense? Who is asking for your details? Think before you click.

@GCHQ The state cannot resist regulating and taxing. They're not much good at anything else, well that's not true, they are masters of wasting money obvious, which they create through regulation and taxation.
