I don’t know how my brain works. Actually, I’m not sure it works. Tonight we’re watching TV with the kids, I grab a Coke, sit down and place the can on the coffee table. And then my brain, this haunted little hamster wheel, goes: “Remember when Yoongi opened a can with one hand?” So naturally I think:“Interesting. I too have a hand.” I lift the tab.I struggle.I inhale like I’m defusing a bomb. Then I try to push the tab back Still one hand.Still committed.Still delusional. I concentrate. I breathe because apparently I’m in a documentary called Woman vs Aluminum. Then the can slips. Coke launches itself across the table like it had waited years for freedom. Everything is wet. The floor. The table. My credibility as a parent. I just stare at it and go: “…oh.” My son turns to me like he just witnessed a workplace accident. “Maman. What are you DOING?” Me, soaked in consequences: “I wanted to see if I could open it with one hand.” Him: “WHY?” And before I can even invent a normal reason, my daughter sighs from the couch. “Yoongi did it in the last live. She thought it was sexy.” My son facepalms so hard I think he saw 2027. “Seriously? I kick off my Nikes to release my sweaty soles, I lay back and place my feet up on you, you are instantly hit with an aroma so strong that you feel it in the back of your throat. Not only can you now taste them, but you can also feel how warm and moist they are. What a lucky coffee table you are, doing your job so well. But it doesn’t just end there. I’ve also forgotten to grab an ashtray and I don’t want to ash on my decking. So it looks like you’re now my personal ashtray. It feels so good to have a purpose doesn’t it?

Be honest. What would you do if your neighbor came over and said this to you about your dog? She claims your dog jumped the fence and ate all of her groceries that she left outside. I’m not buying this. It is a pitch/scam. Dogs eat food that’s sitting out. That’s not news. What’s news is a grown woman leaving raw meat in the yard and then treating the neighbor like an ATM. I’ve raised boys. I’ve had dogs. I’ve lived next to people. Real neighbors knock and say “your dog’s in my yard, come get him.” Hustlers knock and start itemizing a grocery receipt they never show you. If that dog really hopped the fence, the owner still needs to lock her yard down. That’s not in dispute. But I’m not writing a sympathy check off a story that starts with “I don’t have a refrigerator” and ends with “give me my money.” Show the bags. Show the wrappers. Show the receipt. Labour’s Tone-Deaf Response to Northern Ireland Unrest 🤨 So this is Labour’s line: the disorder in Northern Ireland after a Sudanese asylum seeker allegedly tried to behead a man in the street? Just “racist riots”. That’s what the government have decided. It’s all racism. Everything is kicking off again because these people are just racist thugs. Nothing to do with watching someone butchered in the street by a migrant. Nothing to do with communities being ignored by the politicians who are supposed to represent them, while unvetted fighting-age foreign men are flooded into their areas. Nothing to do with crime after crime. Nothing to do with our daughters being targeted on a daily basis. We never wanted mass immigration. We vote against it at every opportunity. But they force it through anyway and then act shocked when anger spills over after scenes like the near-beheading in Belfast. It’s easy for Hilary Benn and the government to just call everyone racist instead of addressing the actual problem. But that only makes people angrier. They just don’t learn. They will never learn. As we saw with the murder of Henry Nowak, too many in government and the institutions see everything through the prism of race while ignoring the root causes staring them in the face. Time to face reality before this gets worse.
