Frank Turek, was standing in the far left corner of the photo & it looked to me, like he is pointing his phone to film Rick Cutler. -Allegedly. So my friend here, sent me the original video that someone had caught, at some point, & asked me to see what I can do with it. -The first video is the original one that I was sent. -The second item, is a picture of the video that I took. I didn't hear Penny call my name at the finish line. And tjo shem she tried. I think I know why I didn't hear her shout my name.....My goal was an 11:15 - 11:20 finish. We started in batches of 3 and I was in the 3rd wave. Out of habit, I switched my Garmin off twice at a water point and forgot to switch it back on for a while. My timing was off and I had no idea what time it was. I wasn't worried as I knew I was comfortably ahead of cut-off. At 72 kms, I heard a fellow runner tell another that "We have 2 and a half hours left to finish. We will come in at 11:10." Silly me didn't realize that these were group 2 runners and they had started earlier. Which meant I had even more time to finish and I'd caught up with many Group 2 runners. I had judged myself according to their progress. As I came closer to the finish line I saw the Group 3 clock say 10:58:22. I was stunned, mentally frozen so I switched off and chased my bronze medal with 1 minute 7 seconds to spare. A 10:58:53 finish was satisfying.

Back at my mom’s house I was sitting in the living room playing video games in my my underwear, I was around 12 years old and ever body was working until about 5pm so I still had a few hours before anybody was there. I usually kept the doors locked but the front door wasn’t locked, I just didn’t know that yet. I walked into the kitchen to grab a snack and a drink. He also told them it wasn’t a good idea to just walk in and that even though they were friends they should always knock on the door. I had never met these people before so I thought it was some kind of home invasion, it scared me. But from that point on I always made sure the doors were locked and that I was dressed decently just in case of unexpected visitors.

What has brought so much happiness to my life and those around me this past year has been my falling back in love with sport. Cycling has, and always will be, my number one. Anyway, the long and the short of this is that it’s inspired me to create a club to inspire and be inspired. A community for us to share our love for getting out there and doing it, because I’ve realized that although I spend most of my sporting life on my own I derive the most pleasure when feeling part of something. It’s in its early days, I’ve called it Sporting Club CHPT3 aka SCC3, I’d love you to check it out and join. It’s still in its infancy, but I hope it’s going to grow into something that will inspire you as much as me.

We said goodbye to our beloved Odom last night as it was his time to go. To say I am devastated would be an understatement because that dog has saved my life more times than I could even begin to fathom. To be with him at the end of his amazing life was an honor I do not take for granted. Most of my days and routines over the last few years were centered around him and ensuring that he received what he needed. Whether it was receiving insulin for his diabetes at the same times every day or planning walks and meals to accommodate what worked best for him, my schedule revolved around what he needed. His routine was my routine, and it made me better. When I first saw him at the Edmonton Humane Society Society, I wasn’t ready for a dog. My brother Alec was there, and he saw me with Odom, and he knew that I was in love immediately. I didn’t find Odom, but Odom found me. I left, not taking him home and immediately knew it was a mistake, and that he was meant to be in my life. I went to the Edmonton Humane Society the next day, 30 minutes before it opened, to ensure that I would be the first person to go through the doors. I headed straight for where Odom was, and he came home with me that day. With all of the ups and downs I have had in my life since, my love and pride in that dog were a constant. I am terribly sad, and I am taking solace in this quote from Andrew Garfield on grief: “This is all the unexpressed love, the grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter if someone lives till 60, 15, or 99.” I love that dog because that dog loved me. Earlier today I was ironing some clients clothe with the gas iron when I had the sudden urge to use the toilet. I turned off the gas and went to the toilet. I went about with other things when I came out thinking the iron was off. Next thing I heard was Mummy your table is burning. I rushed down to find that the gas was still on and I had only increased the heat instead of turning it off. What amazed me was that the rubber iron mat that came with it didn't burn but everything beneath it melted. Does anyone know the kind of material they use in making the mat? Alhamdullilah, what if it happened during the week when my kids are not around? Why is it so hard to fix the power problem in this country so we don't have to resort to endangering our lives trying to solve problems that we shouldn't be having in 2026? In all, Alhamdullilah.

Goodbye, Pearl My heart is still somewhere out in that driveway, laid out flat like it just got the Holy Ghost and passed clean out. Today, I had to say goodbye to Pearl. Now Pearl wasn’t just an SUV. Pearl was my last rolling piece of freedom. She was my pre-ALS independence sitting on four tires. She was my “I’ll be right back” machine. My “let me run to the store” chariot. My “I don’t need nobody to take me nowhere” declaration with leather seats and a clean paint job. And today… she left me on the back of a tow truck like she was being taken to glory. That hurt. The last time I sat behind Pearl’s steering wheel, ALS made something painfully clear. I was sitting at a red light, needing to make a simple right turn. Simple for everybody else. But my arms said, “Oh no, we don’t do that anymore.” Cars behind me started blowing their horns like they were in the Indy 500 and I was holding up qualifying. I’m sitting there sweating, praying, negotiating with my limbs like, “C’mon y’all, just one more turn. ONE.” I wanted to yell, “Y’all better be glad I can’t get out this truck!” But truth was, I was scared. For the first time in my life, I knew I was not safe behind that wheel. Somehow, I used my legs to help force that turn, then drove home with fear sitting in the passenger seat. When I pulled into the driveway and climbed down out of Pearl, I knew. That was it. I dragged myself into the house and told Tanja my heart was broken. I wasn’t just giving up driving. I was giving up another piece of the man I used to be. So Pearl sat in the driveway for ten years, looking like a museum exhibit titled, “Before ALS Had the Nerve.” My girls used her sparingly—very sparingly after Sydney forgot to stop at a stop sign and introduced Pearl’s front bumper to somebody else’s rear end. After that, Pearl went into semi-retirement. Family members would ask, “Can I borrow the truck?” And I’d be sitting there thinking, “Borrow? That’s Pearl. That’s not a truck. That’s family.” But Pearl started coming back with scratches nobody knew about, “Not me.” “Wasn’t there before.” “I don’t remember.” And don’t get me started on the gas tank. I’d hand her over full, she’d come back thirstier than a man in the desert. Apparently, Pearl had been traveling with witnesses who all suffered from sudden memory loss. So today… I kissed her goodbye. Literally. Leaned in, pressed my forehead to hers, and whispered, “Thank you.” Watching her get winched up onto that tow truck felt like watching my past drive away without even turning around to wave. And when that tow truck pulled away, I laughed a little. Then I hurt a lot. Because sometimes letting go isn’t about the thing itself. It’s about what that thing represented. Pearl was freedom. Pearl was strength. Pearl was before. But even as she rolled away, I reminded myself: ALS may have taken the keys, but it never took my memories. It never took my gratitude. And it sure didn’t take my ability to laugh through tears. So goodbye, Pearl. You were loved. You were loyal. And Lord knows… you were patient with my family. Now let me go sit down before I start ugly crying like Tanja did over that Mercedes.

I've rewritten this several times, but I can't find any better way to say it... so here it goes. One of the things I'm scared of most, is time. Particularly, time that is wasted. There's a sundial that hangs on my wall with an inscription that says, "I have done nothing good today, I have lost a day." X has always been a place where I wanted to put out things that didn't waste anyone's time. Whatever post I put out, whatever thought, whatever story, comment,... whatever it was, was worth the time for you to read it, and for me to create it. Because I know, in my bones, that the time we have is precious and thought of wasting even a minute of yours or mine doing something worthless, is genuinely one of my greatest fears. As we were walking down this mountain together, my son looks up at me and says, "Dad... God made me VERY good at hiking." I laughed and say, "Yeah he did!" A couple minutes go by and he stops, he turns at looks at me, and goes: "Dad, God made you VERY good at work and work is very important..." That got me. I often worry that my work pulls me too far away from my kids. Even more than that... ...I know that what I do on X does cause and will cause life to be harder for my kids than if I chose to remain silent Walking off that mountain, one of my deepest fears about wasting time was answered by the very person I was afraid I might be hurting. As a dad, that means everything.

I handed these papers to the authorities. Yet, it feels as though we are screaming into a void. No one is listening. Is this fair? Why is this happening when all I ever wanted was to build a stable, quiet life for myself, my wife, and our daughter? Why am I being condemned for a prison sentence I served unjustly in Greece? I had hoped the Dutch authorities would help me prove my innocence, but instead, they simply wronged me again. Where are human rights? Where are the rights of a child? Watching this reminded me of my first job in America - a server in one of the casino buffets. Our buffet was famous with the crab legs. The only thing I could eat in this American buffet was the crab legs with hot butter and carrot cake. I even got wrote up for eating a carrot cake. Not only that I signed the paper but I also admitted for eating the carrot cake. When the director of the food department of the casino wrote my note, he asked my manager if I was trying to be a smart 8ss. My manager said: Nope. She always say what she thinks. On the next day the director passes through my station and wishes me a good day and says my name. I was sooo… smacked on the head from surprise that the only thing I could say was: Ah, you know my name? He said: Of course I know your name. I was so shocked because I in general think I am invisible to people - stay on the side and observe. And for somebody to know my name, that means I didn’t do enough job hiding 🤦‍♀️😂😂😂 A lot of things happened at my first job and soon everybody knew who I am and what’s my name (for my horror) 😝 I could not adjust to the American culture and I would constantly retaliate against certain things that I would consider unjustice 😂 Now that I think about it, it’s hilarious. But back then, I was really miserable. MS will never be the state of my happiness.
