The Lyrics of Imperfect Mew : Every moment in the song is based on a true story. 🗣️: Can you share some of it with us? Mew : Looking at the lyrics, the first verse starts from the moment of waking up. I wrote it when we were on a cruise, we went to the Caribbean together. The image of sunlight shining on his face, that messy, bedhead look right after waking up... just how incredibly cute he was 😆 Mew : The next verse talks about things we’ve experienced together, such as when we went traveling and missed a train. When we look back on it now, it’s actually funny. Or when it suddenly started raining and we didn’t have an umbrella, so we had to take off a shirt and cover ourselves. In those moments, the imperfection somehow became perfect for us. 🗣️: So this is all based on a true story? Mew: All of it is real. 🗣️: Not a scene from a series? 😂 Mew: No, it really happened. The train incident happened in Munich. Usually, he’s the one who checks the schedule. Like, where to go, which platform and what time. But that day, it looked like he read it wrong, so we rushed because we thought we were going to miss it. But actually, he didn’t read it wrong, the train changed platforms. We had to go to another one. It was funny. No one was at fault… the platform was the one that was wrong 😂 Mew : When I told him which moments behind the song, he related to it so much. He listens to it every night now. He probably knows the lyrics better than I do 😂 Mew : Usually when I write a song, I let him listen to it first. He relates to this one so deeply that he especially loves it.

I know it doesn't look like much cropped in, but this is a modest but huge accomplishment for the Project WeatherEye team! We calculated the vector of this tornado and assumed it would stay down on the ground, but it dissipated, which is good because had it hit the camera it would have also taken a path right thru Clarksville, Texas. Think of this more as a proof of concept than anything, but this is much greater of a project than just putting a camera somewhere on a tree. There's so much technology and back-end infrastructure that it's not even funny. I've seen lots of people work very hard to make this happen, one of them being myself, and I'm happy we were able to mark down our first tornado documentation, albeit a pretty tiny one. Google Street View started as a project to scan the real world. Cars with cameras photographed streets to collect data. It worked, but everything that made a place feel like a place was gone. Until Andy Szybalski prototyped what it could feel like as a product designed for people. The prototype was completely fake. The map didn't work and the imagery wasn't real. But it let people feel what it was like to stand on the street. An engineer saw it and said "let's ship it." Andy had to explain there was nothing to ship. This "smoke and mirrors" prototype convinced the team to throw out years of work and rebuild Street View through the eye of a human instead of a machine. I talked with Andy about the whole story, including the prototypes, the key design decisions, and how Street View became one of the most beloved products on the internet. We found the clip of Andrew Ross Sorkin breaking the Dan Loeb Sony story live on CNBC in 2013, 15 minutes after it happened. It was one of my favorite stories from the conversation with Dan. "The first time we invested in it, it was basically a conglomerate. It had obviously the main Sony studios. It had a semiconductor business, a life insurance business, the consumer electronics. So we advised them to separate these businesses. We met with the management team. We had a big deck that we went through. At the end of the meeting, we told them, "Well, in the interest of transparency, we shared our investment thesis with The New York Times." They went into a panic when we told them about that. Andrew Ross Sorkin wrote the story and agreed to embargo it until the Japanese market closed. The story came out, and they had prearranged us to go on a tour of their innovation center. But before we went on the innovation center, Kaz Hirai (CEO of Sony) looked at me, he says, "You told The New York Times?" I said, "Yeah, but just The New York Times, nobody else." He says, "Okay, just The New York Times." It was wild. We were walking around the innovation center looking at our BlackBerrys when the story went everywhere. They really pushed back on everything that we recommended. It took them about five years, and I think one by one, they've done many of the things."

Stopping production on this unfinished Roblox cinematic was honestly one of the hardest moments of my career. A while ago, I promised the community I’d eventually share what we had been building internally at Roblox. Here it is. This project was a labor of love between an incredibly talented group of Roblox devs, animators, artists, and creators. From the beginning, it was important to us that this cinematic was built by the community, for the community, using assets entirely created on Roblox. Every map, character, and object was ported directly from Roblox and re-rigged in Maya, building on a lot of what we learned during the reboot of the Bloxys. We had to invent new workflows, break things constantly, and figure out processes as we went just to make it possible. We intentionally made it harder on ourselves because we wanted to push the limits of what Roblox could look and feel like at a cinematic level. The music and sound design were also original, though still unfinished. Entire sequences only ever existed as storyboards and concept art created by Roblox devs and artists. Ironically, pieces of this project later ended up scattered across ads and trailers after my time at Roblox. At its core, this was meant to be a love letter to the community. Hope you enjoy it <3

Engeng has been thru a lot of pressure and stress 🤍 “I lost about 5-6 kilos. During a period when I was rehearsing for the concert, there was a big project coming in. This project involved the challenge of using English. I was facing a lot of pressure and stress to deliver it within the deadline. At that time, the stress was so intense that I could hardly eat, and it was the most pressure I had ever felt. On top of that, the concert also required singing international songs, which meant memorizing lyrics. So there were many things happening all at once. The stress came from wanting everything to turn out great, not just doing one thing well, but everything. It was a state of pressure and stress. But now that was done, I’m focusing on the concert with the four remaining days. I want to make it worth the tickets everyone paid for. I understand that with the current economy, people need to think a lot before spending money. So I want those who decided to buy tickets to feel it was truly worth it.
