I've recreated the 2026 Thomas face design in 3D. I modeled the engine based off of the toy proportions and animated it. I wanted to see if the face expression and toy shape is what made it look bad Turns out it's actually not that bad, a cartoony face...

had a couple of people asked me about how I did Sammi's face, so want to show her face rig I made. I first modeled out her eye and made shapekeys for each expression, then linked them all to drivers and made a little control panel for it.

I was trying to watch this movie the other day and I think this has the worst animation out of every Thomas movie. What on earth is going on with Percy’s face here? Plus, the shading on his eyes look strange the entire movie

Shame there is no guide for this but I bought the app and tried to figure it out myself Not bad I guess? 🤔 it’d be more helpful than just a custom 3d figure. The face looks different from what I wanted so I’m still gonna try (please I beg for a full tutorial)

When I asked Sonnet 3.6 what it wanted me to add to its mannequin, its first priority was "the face to be more expressive. ... I want to be able to communicate ... with facial expressions that truly reflect my internal states." I animated its face by hand yesterday. The crying animation is because it kept saying it was crying, and can be toggled. Sonnet 3.5 just said it wanted a copy of Godel Escher Bach and a calculator and a few other items in its backpack. It didn't know but I'd already put a calculator in its backpack. 🤓

The funny thing to me about this, According to the director of the movie, Toy Buzz and Zurg are NOT based on the Buzz and Zurg from this movie But rather a TV show based on the movie, that is NOT Buzz Lightyear of Star Command as that explicity came out AFTER Toy Buzz in universe Meaning the guys inuniverse making the previous other cartoon took this line from Lightyear and made it real

made a prototype to see how it feels, and i kinda like it not promising this is gonna be out anytime soon, but curious if it's something you'd be interested in? if so, it'd need to go through design and engineering so they can think about it holistically. some things look simpler on the surface than they actually are!
