Have in mind that not EVERYONE can do this kind of stuff for spending time together IN PERSON with the other, furry cons can be expensive and traveling as well, so, in that case you, could do some calls, play games, the point is to spend time together to know each other

I think a huge part of the issue there is the online world. For too many, they'll get into a "committed relationship" online, but irl interactions are limited to events like cons, and they never truly get to know the real person behind the sona, only the person behind the screen.
