Jordan Peterson: "If you can't fix your room, you can't fix your life" "Why should you even bother improving yourself? The answer is something like: so you don't suffer anymore stupidly than you have to. And maybe so others don't have to either. It's not some casual self-help doctrine. If you don't organize yourself properly, you'll pay for it. In a big way. And so will the people around you." Peterson continues: "You can say, 'Well, I don't care about that.' He explains why this matters: "If you were coming to see me for psychotherapy, the easiest thing would be to get you to organize your room. You think, is that psychotherapy? It depends on how you conceive the limits of your being. Start where you can start. If something announces itself as in need of repair that you could repair, fix it. Fix a hundred things like that, your life will be a lot different." On fixing what you repeat every day: "People tend to think of their daily routines as trivial. You get up, brush your teeth, have breakfast. Those probably constitute 50% of your life. People think, they're mundane, I don't need to pay attention to them. No, that's exactly wrong. The things you do every day are the most important things you do. Hands down. Just do the arithmetic." On staying within your competence: "Sometimes you don't know how to fix something. Imagine you're walking down the street and there's a guy who's alcoholic and schizophrenic and has been homeless for ten years. That's a problem. It would be good if you could fix it, but you haven't got a clue. You walk around that and go find something you could fix. Just because something announces itself as in need of repair doesn't mean it's you, right then and there, who should repair it. You have to have some humility. You don't walk up to a helicopter that isn't working and just start tinkering away." Peterson shares the key insight: "As soon as you give your mind a genuine aim, it'll reconfigure the world in keeping with that aim. That's actually how you see to begin with. You've all seen the video where you watch basketballs being tossed back and forth, and while you're doing that, a gorilla walks into the middle of the video and you don't see it. If you thought about that experiment for five years, that would be about the right amount of time to spend thinking about it." He explains what it reveals: "What it shows you is that you see what you aim at. If you can get one thing through your head, that would be a good one. You see what you aim at. One inference you might draw from that is: be careful what you aim at. What you aim at determines the way the world manifests itself to you. So if the world is manifesting itself in a very negative way, one thing to ask is: are you aiming at the right thing?"

You mentioned that the film is still banned in Iran. In fact, when I was watching the film, I realized that through the characters, there’s a lot of fear about the system, the establishment, the police. The women can’t smoke; they have to wear the chador; they seem to want to hide every time. This is all very clear from watching the film. Did you deliberately want to make a statement about the political situation in Iran? Panahi: I have to tell you again that I’m not a political person. I don’t like political movies. The reason that you don't have certain excellence that you want is because you are afraid of getting criticized. You are afraid of the judgment that comes with it. You are afraid of standing out. You are afraid of being alone. You are afraid of people looking at you. You are worried about what people think of you. There are 2 categories of things in this world: 1) Things that are up to you 2) Things that are not up to you Which category does your reputation sit in? Your reputation is not up to you. I'm the one who associates your reputation with something, not you. You just do things. What's up to you? How you act. Your decisions. Your actions. That is up to you. Your reputation is not up to you. Here's how I know that: You all have a reputation about me and it's not in my control. I get to say and do whatever I say and do up here. I am in control of saying it. I am in control of doing it. The moment words leave my lips, who has control over what is done with those words? You! You are in control of what you think of me. The young Captain was having a conversation with the pupils, and here is what he saying, “I was telling you a while ago, in school they were telling us that we couldn’t do it here. They lied to us. We grow wheat here, and it works well, and we will develop it. Some people have started, this year, I was able to see people who did it, as part of the presidential initiative, and I was told that in the past, some were able to do it and they produced it well. Currently, we are sowing wheat in some farmlands as part do the presidential initiative. What you eat must be produced here. So, this is why I say that we will teach you many things, and we will review the curricula they teach you. For those who drink coffee, they told us that your coffee, chocolate, it is only in the countries with abundant rainfalls, that here is only savanna, desert, it does not rain, we cannot farm. Again, they lied to us. It’s not true! Coffee grows well here, cocoa grows well too. There are people here who have the farms here, even in Ouagadougou here, there are people who have cocoa trees in their yards. This means that, chocolate that children envy those from well to do familes can be manufactured here in Burkina and all the children can eat chocolate in Burkina. We found out it is possible. Look at this incredible clip of Carl Jung talking about God. It literally gives me chills every time I watch it. One of the most prolific and famous psychotherapists and psychoanalysts of all time, Jung coined much of the language we use to describe our thoughts and psychology today. So why is it that someone so steeped in the sciences ends up finding himself not only saying that he believes in God as an act of conscious faith, but that he KNOWS God? If you, like me, were raised through your youth in the 2010s-2015 era of 'new-atheism', it became extremely zeitgeist to deny the existence of God. We saw a world where science was directly in opposition to anything spiritual, metaphysical, supernatural at all. But what I think is extremely compelling is how many incredibly intelligent individuals who clearly wrestled with the material and fought rigorously with these ideas ended up finding themselves at some sort of level acknowledging the existence of the supernatural, of the divine. Anyone who experiences life richly, who asks the deep questions and continues to seek earnestly, will find the answers that they're seeking for. My encouragement is to explore these questions now, when you are young, when you have the time for these answers and philosophies to completely change the trajectory of your life. How would you live if you thought that you were chosen? How would you live if you thought that you were placed here for a reason? Famously, they say that there are no atheists on deathbeds. But what I hope to see in the world is no atheists anywhere. We are surrounded by abundant evidence of something incredibly magical going on behind the scenes. And I think that if you're humble enough to consider the idea, you'll start to see it all around you.

we all dream of those big wins in life the 100x, the multi-million dollar trade, or even just 10x of what you started with in 7 days i’ve been fortunate enough to experience a few of those over the past few years, and the reality is when you do win big, it doesn’t feel like it at all it hits for a split second, and then your brain just normalizes it it's a part of how to get there in the first place, but makes it a lot easier to lose it if you don't have the right guardrails in place and in that exact moment, you being even keeled doesn’t mean the number in front of you isn’t life changing it is this is where you have to slow down a bit, breathe, settle your mind don’t just roll it into some bullshit take some off the table, step away for a few days if you have to, funny enough, blowing let's say 10k of it on a beautiful trip to tokyo will save you so much because once you actually process what just happened, your future self will thank you for it the truth is, even if you think you’re going for a certain number, the moment you hit it, you’ll want more and more, and more anyone who's been in the same position will tell you the exact same thing ironically the people that win are addicted to winning and if you ask the same people in a year after that big win, what they regret and where are they proud of themselves? they will tell you they regretted rolling it over and giving some/all back or they are proud for switching back on the switch all of this is real, but it’s also exactly how i imagined it would feel years ago before it ever happened manifest your life, the feeling not just the number everything happens twice, first in your mind, then in reality

Luna: "In the specific incident of Eglin Air Force Base, which is where we had the pilot testimony and we were able to see some images, these things were frying the equipment on the aircraft. Now, the other issue is, sometimes pilots won't report because they don't want to be taken off flight status. So there's removing the stigma of if you're supposed to have safe flying. Sunlight powers the electrons that go into your mitochondria. So, in the brain, you need to know about how the leptin-melanocortin pathway works. So, you know that I’m a brain surgeon, so I know a lot about this. In the brain, you have a master clock in your eye a master clock called the SCN. It is connected to the retina. So, where does the leptin-melanocortin pathway begin? It begins in the eye, okay? So, the retina sends this pathway directly to two places. One is the SCN, which is the master clock that controls all circadian biology. If that clock runs slower than all the other clocks distal, you get diseases in the distal organs. That’s really what the disease is. Here’s the key. There’s no synapses in that pathway from the retina to the SCN. There’s another pathway that also has no synapses that very few people talk about. That one goes to the habenular nucleus from the retina. What is the habenular nucleus in the hypothalamus, which is very close to where your pituitary is? It is the relay center to the frontal lobes. The frontal lobes are what make you different than primates. And that’s the reason why they were a target of COVID. That is the reason why behavioral changes have showed up. Remember what I told you about the original story about chromosome 2 folding in on itself. I believe this building will have lots of new facilities. I asked your principal, 'Madam, what facilities do you provide?' And she named a whole bunch that even I didn't have in my school. So, I must compliment all of you; you are going to have this AI facility here, which is hopefully going to open even new frontiers and opportunities for you. So use these opportunities well. Your teachers and your parents make a lot of sacrifices for you to be here, to learn, to grow and to have a strong future. We must always respect what other people do for us and respect their participation in making us what we are. By the time you leave school, you may not have a full idea of what your life will be like. What will your future be? But you will have a good idea of who you are going to be as a person for the rest of your life.
