I’ve watched this about 20 times now and still don’t think it’s ‘stone wall’. Why does Stuart Armstrong stop all his momentum by leaping into the air rather than running onto the pass and getting a shot away?!

He's getting across the ball to put it on his right foot. He should have done better but it's still an obvious foul.

I don’t think it’s obvious at all.

Because he was trying to get his body in position and hold off the defender to get the shot off, he’s not quick, he’s gone through the back of him and wiped him out, it’s 100% a pen IMO,

It’s probably about 55% a penalty in mine

Come on, have you ever played football? In that position the first thing you need to do is get across the defender, doing this means the defender can't touch you and as a result it buys the forward time to get away his shot. The defender gets none of the ball.

You can get across the defender by *running* across him, you don’t need to halt all your forward momentum and jump vertically in the air to do so!

He's positioning himself between the defender and ball. Which he's entitled to do. The defender isn't entitled to clatter into the back of him. In todays game, that's a free kick anywhere else on the park.

He’s already positioned between the defender and the ball! He can carry his forward momentum by running across the front of Orban rather than leaping in the air, losing all momentum and closing the gap. It’s just poor technique

The knee of Hungary played does unbalance him ?

He leaps in the air before Orban is anywhere near him!
