JACINTA LIED TO US! 🚨🌾 We were told that foreign sugarcane workers are being exploited and paid "slave wages." But many farmers say experienced sugarcane workers are paid well above the national minimum wage, especially where pay is linked to productivity and output. The bigger question is this: if...

🚨 WERE WE MISLED ABOUT FARM WORKERS' PAY Many farm employers comply with the minimum wage, and sugarcane cutters can earn more than general farm labourers. He argued that the bigger challenge is that many South Africans are unwilling to take physically demanding jobs such as bricklaying, grass cutting and sugarcane cutting. If that's true, then perhaps the debate isn't only about wages, but also about the type of work people are willing to do. Do you agree, or do you think low pay and poor working conditions are still the main reasons these jobs struggle to attract local workers? 👇🏾

🚨 SOUTH AFRICANS ARE NOT LAZY, THEY ARE CHOOSY! ABAFUN SEBENZA EMAFARM🇿🇦 A representative of the South African Farmers Development Association argued that many farming jobs, particularly sugarcane cutting, pay at least the minimum wage, and in some cases more than general farm labour. His view was that the challenge is not necessarily a lack of jobs, but that many South Africans choose not to take certain types of physically demanding work. Do you agree with that assessment, or do you think wages and working conditions remain the real reason these jobs struggle to attract local workers? Let's debate. 👇🏾

🚨YOU WANTED THE Jobs ANGITH... NOW IT'S TIME TO CLOCK IN! 😂🌾 For years we were told undocumented migrant workers were "taking all the jobs." Now reports say sugar cane farms in KZN are facing labour shortages after many undocumented workers left. Well... here's the opportunity many have been waiting for. The vacancies are there. The sugar cane is waiting. 🌾😅 We don't want to here that South Africa is running outbof sugar next year... Hambani niyophangela.. The real test is here: can you survive the scorching heat, the long hours, the back-breaking work, and the daily grind? It's easy to say "they're taking our jobs" from behind a keyboard. It's a different story when it's 35°C in the fields and you're swinging a cane knife all day. This isn't about mocking anyone it's about recognising that some jobs are incredibly demanding, and labour shortages are a real challenge for certain industries. So... who's signing up tomorrow morning? 😭😂 If these jobs become available, should unemployed South Africans take them? Mina I wanna have my sugar consistently 😢 Or is there a bigger conversation about wages, working conditions, and why employers struggle to fill them? Let's Talk 🌾🇿🇦

There is nowhere in this country where a full-time worker paid the federal minimum wage of $7.25 can make ends meet — and yet many restaurant workers are paid a sub-minimum wage of just $2.13 an hour. Totally absurd. It's time to end starvation wages for tipped workers.

🚨 OPPORTUNITY OR EXCUSE? With more vacancies opening up as undocumented workers leave certain sectors, South Africans are now being invited to take up jobs like Checkers Sixty60 delivery driving. The estimated earnings being shared online have sparked plenty of debate. The real question is: Will South Africans grab these opportunities, or will the long hours, pressure and demanding nature of the job make it difficult to retain workers? It's easy to say "give locals the jobs," but are enough people willing to do the work consistently? What's your honest opinion?

AOC: We rely on hundreds of thousands of home care workers across the country. This labor force is going to expand a lot as more of our parents reach older age, and these folks need to be paid a fair wage. These are some of the most exploited workers in the country. Oftentimes, their shifts are extremely long, and they have to work in very tough conditions. We need home healthcare workers to be paid a fair wage so that people can age with dignity and receive care at home with dignity

Small Business Administrator Drops The Hammer on Full-Government CRACKDOWN of H-1B Fraud: 'NO ONE Is Asking For FOREIGN Workers, They Want Americans' "Our biggest concern that we hear from our employers, which create two out of every three new jobs, is that they can't find enough skilled workers. They need more qualified workers to be in the workforce and work for them." "No one is asking for foreign workers. No one is saying, 'I need more foreign-born workers. I need more visa workers'. They are simply saying, we need the students coming out of, be it high school or college, to be trained and skilled enough to do these jobs. And they're not. We have 7 million jobs open in America." "We have plenty of Americans that can do those jobs if they get the right training and skills. That's why we're focused skilled trade, technical and trade schools and sourcing our employees here in America." Keep fighting for American Workers, Kelly Loeffler

LIFE OF A SUGAR CANE CUTTER IN KZN 🚨PART 1 This is not a child's play job. Cutting sugarcane means spending hours in the scorching sun, swinging a machete, carrying heavy loads, breathing in dust and smoke, and doing back-breaking manual labour for long hours. Historically, the sector has struggled to attract enough workers because of the physically demanding conditions and relatively low wages. That's why labour shortages are a recurring challenge. Before judging the people who do this work,or asking why there are shortages, try imagining yourself doing it every day. Respect to every sugarcane cutter for : keeping the industry alive 💪🌾

Here is Trump completely contradicting what Vivek & Elon are currently saying about the need for foreign high-tech workers. Trump was right when he said this. 2 Billionaires are pushing a false narrative that America doesn’t produce enough high tech workers, that’s bullshit. Elon hired OVER 700 foreign high-tech workers at Tesla in 2023 alone. This is not about a labor shortage, it’s about driving down wages. Eric Weinstein & Steve Bannon are correctly calling this out as a false manufacturers labor shortage concocted to suppress wages. If it’s not about wages but about bringing in the absolute best & brightest minds, then why not add a provision that foreign high tech workers need to be paid more than their American counterparts? If they’re so much smarter & brighter then that would make sense right? But they’re not proposing that because it’s not about American corporations being desperate for top tier talent, it’s about wage suppression of high tech workers.

We are in a new Gilded Age. Proud to be an original sponsor of Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez and Analilia Mejia's bill to have the federal wage be $25 by 2031. Real minimum wage was $14 in 1968. Since then productivity has grown 2.5x, but the real minimum wage is today half. Moving to $25 is making sure workers are being paid for what they produce.

South Africans speak your truth !!! No matter how people try to silence you but the rot in the country due to illegal immigration is something else. We are inspecting the factories in Newcastle. The Chinese owners are illegal in the country, they are employing minors and workers that are in country illegally. Some workers get paid R50 a week, they work in unsafe conditions and aren’t even registered for UIF. They are made to sleep inside the factory, exposed to sexual exploitation and are forced to work anytime the bosses want. These Chinese don’t pay taxes yet use the infrastructure and services paid for by honest hardworking South Africans citizens.

There are no jobs natives won’t do, only wages they won’t accept. The migrant behind the camera says “they say we’re taking their jobs… Aussie lads don’t want to work” The farmer replies “..young Aussies just wanna sleep in, go to the beach and drink beer… they don’t want to do this” From the migrant’s perspective, even a low Australian wage is 100x what a low wage is where he’s from, plus working here leads to permanent residency which leads to Medicare and other social supports. So it’s hardly a trudge for the migrant to take the role, seeing as though comparatively to staying home this endeavour will make him very wealthy. And the farmer must surely know that when pay is high enough to compensate for hours, conditions, and opportunity cost, an Australian will take the job. What are often described as “labour shortages” or “they don’t want to do this” are usually a reflection of employers’ preference for keeping wages low rather than a true lack of available workers, especially for lower skill requirement jobs. By increasing the supply of labour, mass immigration places downward pressure on wages and reduces workers’ bargaining power, allowing firms to fill roles without raising pay. This farmer could’ve got Aussies to do it, but he’d have to pay them an Aussie wage. He didn’t want to admit that, so he just said Australians are lazy, and the migrant worker gleefully agrees.

Yesterday I spoke in Parliament on the hypocrisy of plantation companies refusing to pay the Fairtrade Intl recommended and Wages Board Gazetted living wage for estate workers when they are making Rs. billions in profits. The myth that the tea industry can only survive on paying workers a wage that keeps them below the poverty line, is disproven by the latest published accounts of these companies. It’s time for plantation companies to accept their social and legal responsibilities and pay their workers decent wages and if not, sell up to companies who can actually do the job. Jon Krause of the UAW Local 2093 Bargaining Committee recently testified in my committee about the realities facing workers at American Axle. For nearly two decades, workers have carried the burden of concessions they were told would save the company, years of sacrifice in the form of cut wages and reduced benefits. Now, nearly 1,000 UAW workers are on strike for the first time since 2008, demanding the fair contract they've earned. Their message is simple: workers who helped keep this company alive deserve to share in its success.
