You get 1 spring Little League season per year. You can play tournaments every weekend. Missing your rec league games to play in a travel ball tournament is not legit. It's also not safe from an arm care perspective. The travel ball player is probably a top Little League player, so it really hurts the team. Dont put your child that situation. And dont do that to the team. It puts the Little League head coach in an awful position. What are they supposed to tell the team? "Oh yea, little Bobby is playing on his travel team this weekend instead of with us..." And then that travel ball player is expected to just be slotted back into the lineup? That's not right. I bet if the LL coach sits the player for skipping out on the team, those parents complain. In fact, I literally just had this happen with a good friend... which prompted this reflection. Play Little League or Travel Ball. And if you do both, prioritize the rec league with the team who has worked together for months with the goal of playing meaningful baseball at the end of the season. Show up for the volunteer coach who probably selected you as one of their top picks to carry and lead the team. Highlights brought to you by Rozzi Fireworks. Moeller started off their postseason run with a bang, as they scored a program record 25 runs in a 25-0 win over Western Hills. The offense exploded for 18 hits, including 6 extra base hits, which included 3 home runs. Matt Ponatoski led the team with 6 RBIs, one off from tying the program record in a game, going 3-3 with 2 home runs and a double. Might be the only Crusader in history to hit two home runs in a single inning (can’t verify). Jackson Porta also had 3 hits, going 3-3 himself. He also added on 3 RBIs on the day. Will Schirmer went 3-5, also registering 3 RBIs, an inside the park home run, and got a triple. Connor_Fuhrer threw a complete game 1 hitter. Connor didn’t walk a single batter for the second time this season, and he struck out 7, which ties for his career high.

Gonzaga's Mario Saint-Supery showed why he's got a chance to have a big sophomore leap vs Denmark today The 6-4 Spanish guard went for 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals on 6-10 FG and 3-6 from deep in just 17 minutes of action MSS had a nice freshman season at Gonzaga, and with more on-ball responsibilities a big jump could project him favorably for NBA Teams next season He became a bit more of a off-ball player last season as the year progressed but again has so much on-ball juice as a playmaker and has grown as a shooter, but must find his at the rim footing again.

I've been asked to review and provide thoughts on the question of a potential targeting call in the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Football / UMHB Football🏈 #d3fb game Saturday. I have synced up two videos -- one from UMHB's broadcast and one posted by In The (D3FB) Huddle contributor Riley Conlee (Riley Conlee) (if he could provide credit to the videographer of it, I'd appreciate it). There is a full-speed view and a 20% speed view of the central action included in the video. To evaluate targeting, we have to review both aspects of the rule to see what, if anything, qualifies. I want to provide the entire set of rules (9-1-3 & 9-1-4): "Targeting and Making Forcible Contact With the Crown of the Helmet ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet. The crown of the helmet is the top segment of the helmet; namely, the circular area defined by a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6) (A.R. 9-1-3-I) Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). We need to start at Note 2 to see if Kyle Brown qualified here as a "defenseless player." If not, then 9-1-4 would not apply to him here. Kyle was not a receiver or a passer per se here -- he was clearly a runner downfield and was not in the grasp of any player. As a result, he was not "defenseless" by definition. That means that the only way targeting can be called here is if the provisions of Rule 9-1-3 were violated. Rule 9-1-3 is VERY specific about the initial requirement before we can go to the question of a required indicator: "No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet." The crown of the helmet is "the top segment of the helmet, specifically the circular area with a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet." In the videos, we see a couple of telling signs. First, Kyle appeared to actually lower HIS helmet as the contact became imminent, which is something coaches advise against for a variety of reasons, including self-preservation. But what is telling is that the UMHB defender attempted to peel off as he saw the angle of the contact he was heading toward with Brown. Specifically, he appeared to end up perpendicular to Brown, perhaps catching Brown's facemask enough to cause the helmet to fly. Yet, that contact was NOT with the defender's crown. As a result, since Brown was not defenseless by rule and because the crown of the helmet was not used for forcible contact to the head/neck area, the picking up of the flag by the officials was appropriate. That said, I spoke with an official who reviewed the videos without commentary and who landed in the same spot as I did concerning the above. They stated that if immediate replay review was available, crews will generally throw the flag and go to review (here, it likely would have been overturned by review, preserving the defender's eligibility). Since the ASC is not providing the on-field replay review yet, the officials' decision would have impacted the game by ejecting a player for the last 6 minutes of the first half until a Halftime review would have been available. For those wondering about how replay is impacting the game, I think this is a good reminder of the nuances it can impact.

Here’s the full Sky Sports Football clip Bit of a rant because of the waffle these lot have been producing We sorted that Courtney and her dribble. Mackie is another one. Why on earth do we wanna focus on buying league one players?! We don’t want to be in this league we want to go up, you buy a squad of league one players if you wanna be stable and maybe fluke promotion via the play offs, if that happens…guess what we have to do again next season….rebuild We lost one way or another 17 players this summer, we needed to rebuild this season, we have been skating on thin ice because of our yellow sticker transfer activity for the best part of 7 years. Why on earth would we use this summer to pack the squad out with journeyman league one players? F that!! We want to go up so we only need to add a handful of players to be able to go again next season. Stop using Wrexham as a comparison to us, they did exactly what we have done this season when they were in the national league. Wisconsin 6’6 PG Andrew Rohde is one of most underrated players coming into CBB next season Rohde had a strong junior season for Virginia where he averaged 9/3/4 while shooting 41% from three. Rohde also averaged 10/3/5 in conference play. Rohde was one of the best shooters and passers in the country this season at 6’6 who was a very effective PG with his PNR play and passing vision while also having the ability to be one of the best movement shooters in college with his play off the ball. Rohde was also an effective defender giving him a unique blend of shooting, defense, and passing at 6’6 that not a lot of players have along with giving him a ton of versatility. You don't even need to build it out. - Put a teenager at the front with an iPad that can charge lots of money. - Buy some of these electric go-karts from Alibaba or AliExpress. - Buy a few smart projectors with sensors on the ceiling. Let me state up front that these two plays were NOT the reason St. John's lost yesterday. And I am a numbers guy so no need to tell me about our shooting stats in the game. But I need to vent. We knew Arkansas over their prior 8 games was making a concerted effort to get to the free throw line - they averaged 26.5 free throws over this 8 game period. In the 10 games prior to this 8 game period, Arkansas averaged 19.3 free throws attempts per game - right in line with D1 average per game. The coaching staff gave a clear direction to our players prior to the game - wall up with your hands in the air and maintain verticality. I am including two clips here of just that in which the Arkansas player initiated contact, Zuby and Kadary went straight up with their hands in the air, and Arkansas was rewarded with two trips to the free throw line. In the first clip, St. John's had a 4 point lead with 2 minutes to go in the first half with momentum as Arkansas hadn't made a field goal in 3 minutes. Zuby does exactly what he was instructed when Boogie Fland initiated contact and the baseline ref who is 6 feet away from the action does not blow his whistle, but another ref does award Boogie Fland two free throws. That started a 7-0 run for Arkansas and they went into the half with a 3 point lead. I can't provide enough words on the second clip on just how unjust it was to have a late whistle call on Kadary going straight up in the air and getting his fifth foul called on him with 6:28 to play. Kadary was limited to just 16 minutes of play in the entire game because of foul trouble. And as a reminder, I will end this post with how I started it. The 2nd half we sat back letting them have possession. Bergvall was injured yet for some reason they let him play on for 10 minutes before he had to go off why wait ffs. The plus was seeing the supremely talented Junai Byfield make his Tottenham debut great stuff. #COYS 🤍💙

As we close 2023/24 it gives us an opportunity to reflect on a brilliant season of one of our own! Robbie Gallagher: Following a great season in 22/23 for Wallingford and Crowmarsh FC Robbie signed for Didcot Town. Despite relegation Robbie has shone at Step 3 with a number of outstanding displays for Didcot Town Football Club. Robbie went on to win, Managers Player, Players Player, Young Player and Supporters player in a clean sweep at the end of season awards night. For us he achieved similar highs and has been recognised for his individual displays. He has nearly completed his HNC (1st year of his degree). Also achieved a winners medal in the National Football Youth League league along with a runners up medal in the National Cup Final. Despite losing the game Robbie was awarded the man of the match. And finally he was presented with Players Player for the 23’s on Friday night. A shining light in a very talented squad of players. What a season for this diamond of a lad! We couldn’t be prouder and look forward to his continued success in the game and beyond. He will go into the 24/25 season as a newly appointed staff member! Keep smashing it Robbie 🏆

Because of an unsportsmanlike penalty, the offense had to start at their own 9 yard line. That meant 89 yards to go and instead of folding, Hurts and the offense put together their best drive of the season. Look at the situations they had to pass out of to overcome: •3rd & 10 from their own 9 •3rd & 3 •3rd & 10 •4th & Goal touchdown And don’t forget, Barkley chipped in a clutch 3rd & 3 conversion run too.
