Jack O’Brien is a Sun Devil 😈 After totaling 68 points (35G, 33A) across two ECHL seasons following a standout four-year run with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, O’Brien is officially headed to Tempe #BeTheTradition

Embarassing. Bending the NCAA rules to bring in professional athletes and 23 year old freshmen. 2nd largest NCAA hockey operating budget and can't make their conference tournament. But hey, these kids aren't mercenaries, eh?

Absolutely ridiculous a dude whos played two seasons in the ECHL is gonna be a "freshman" in college

Imagine being so shit as a program that you bring in these guys that are so shit as a player that their only option is to leave the pros and play the amateur game again. Clown show. 🚮

I heard they are talking to Jagr

It is signings like this that forces the ncaa to act and make changes. Some ruin it for all

23 year old freshman holy fuck man they need to figure this out. All to end up right back in the ECHL. Hope the parties are fun tho should prob let the 18 year olds known your 5 years older than them

23 year old "Freshman" who was playing professionally the last two seasons ! No knock on the kid who is doing what is best for him, but are people really gonna say that @NCAAIceHockey #cawlidgehawkey are in good condition and that the shark hasn't been jumped many times over ?

This is fuckin terrible man have some pride

This makes it a flipping joke. They'll start having guys coming from NHL retirement next to go to school

@CollegePucksC2C Powers desperate to save job

And Hockey wants a waiver to the proposed NCAA 5 in 5 eligibility rule.

You guys push the rules constantly and can’t even win with Powers

😈🔱

Does the room and board count for his wife and kids?

Common ASU signing pro players to try and escape being ass

And you guys will still be awful.

This is getting out of hand

@hockeyscouting Not one but two ECHL seasons? Wow. Hardly an amateur. This must be a joke

The NCAA needs to fix this.

Be better ASU. Be better.

@hockeyscouting Will these be his first college classes? Assuming a freshman for eligibility?

He should be embarrassed!

gross

Old enough to graduate

🖕

2 years eligibility based on the new rules. Seems worth it?

Lame

The game is ruined

Let his dad play too! 😆 Fucking embarrassing for the kid, you ain’t making the NHL, try Europe, tax free for a year or two.

What a load of crap. This man has played professionally for 2 years...he's 23. Supposed to be college athletics.
