Jak 2 is honestly a funny case because it’s actually both.

When I replayed Jak 2, I was expecting for the game to be all edge, all of the time based of how the Internet was talking about it only to be surprised by how much of a cartoon it still is at times and I think the game actually made it work.

I honestly think it’s funnier than the first game due to how Jak not being silent anymore means he and Daxter can have some great banter/chemistry with one another. Plus stuff like this.

Kai-ree, Luk, LeKing, and the 4th guy already know. Do you? Check the hottest L2E game project of 2024.

I think Jak & Daxter manage to pull off the tonal shift incredibly well and Youtube Reviewers were once again wrong and overreacting You can tell they actually put thought into the transition from Jak 1 to Jak 2 and didn't just do it to be edgy with no substance

I think what works is how Daxter is there to try and offset any edge. Literally the first thing Jak does is go on about "I’M GONNA KILL BARON PRAXIS" and Daxter’s like "okay yeah sure, let’s get you out of bed, grumpy pants."

people massively oversell the edginess. theres still a ton of saturday morning cartoon energy in the game

"Game rights?!?!?" still gets me.

I always liked how despite not being mute anymore, Jak still doesn't talk that much. It's in keeping with his new 'strong and silent type' persona.

Keeping both the fantasy elements and Daxter, Keira and Samos' personalities helps a lot to not feel so alienated I mean, the gameplay is identical too even structurally, so there's that

3 is even worse tonally isn’t it, comparing it to one it feels like not even the same franchise
