Hot take: This game was honestly not that hard.

Seeing those purple eco crystals and the zoomer in Haven City hits different. Jak II was the moment everything changed—no more innocent island hopping, just gritty rebellion and dark powers. I spent entire summers grinding those oracle missions and cursing at the racing challenges. Pure 2003 magic.

I can see it. Remnants of a true Jak 1 sequel (ambiance, music, level design) hastily cut apart, jerry-rigged, and spray-painted over to make Jak II, because GTA III made 350 mil in 2 years.
