Mike Lawler, one of the four Republicans who joined all Democrats in signing a discharge petition to force a vote on a three-year extension of expiring ACA premium tax credits, was part of the discussion. Johnson brushed off any suggestion of discord, describing his conversation with Lawler as an "intense fellowship" adding that they are "working through very complex issues, as we do here all the time." When asked if he has lost control of the House, Johnson flatly rejected that characterization, telling reporters, "I have not lost control."
