A judge in Tampa, Florida, today sentenced four men to life in prison without parole for the 2024 murder of a rival gang member and rapper. Judge Michelle Sisco followed the jury's May 15 recommendation for life in prison instead of death for Sean Gathright, 20; Isaiah Chance, 23; Davion Murphy, 29; and Rashad Murphy, 32. A jury on May 8 convicted Gathright and the Murphys of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder for three people who were with Charles "Julio Foolio" Jones Jr. when he was shot to death in his Dodge Charger in a hotel parking lot next to the University of South Florida early on June 23, 2024. Gathright also was convicted of evidence tampering. Chance was convicted of the murder and conspiracy charges. He was not charged with attempted murder. A separate jury convicted Chance's girlfriend, Alicia Andrews, of manslaughter last October, and she was sentenced on May 22 to 15 years in prison.
