And so, works are necessary to be saved. That’s the answer to James question.

That's a backloaded Works-Gospel Ryan. James 2:14 Is an exhortative self reflective question... Can someone not working save you? No. So work to save! Read James 2:1 "My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons."

That is false. The faith in James 2:24 is genuine because he is talking about the exact faith that Abraham had in the immediate prior verse quoting Gen 15:6--and all agree this is genuine faith. And he says "by works a man is justified and not by faith alone"

What simplifies James is the 1st chapter and verse of the book, it tells us who is James written to...and those aren't Christians but Israel.

RYAN. James 2 References Abraham’s Faith being TESTED AND PROVEN BEFORE GOD. Not “others”. His Faith would not have been “made perfect” (made real) IF HE DID NOT OBEY. WHAT PART OF THIS DO TOU NOT UNDERSTAND? Are you willfully this stupid, or do you just need help reading?

I'm not a fan of this fallible interpretation of God's Word. God's Word says the demons have faith, but that won't save them. It says "so you see that faith, if it has not works, is dead."

Ryan: "Can faith alone save you, no it can't". Needs clipping and propagating to all evangelicals-protestants.

James 2:14–26 — Faith Without Works Is Dead The Book of James was written to Jewish believers scattered abroad who were experiencing persecution and trials. James was not explaining how to receive eternal life, but how those who already possess it should live. His emphasis is on practical righteousness, not positional righteousness. Throughout his letter, James addresses his readers as believers. In James 1:18, he says God brought "us" forth by the word of truth. In James 2:5, he calls them "beloved brethren." His concern is not whether they are saved, but whether their faith is productive. In James 1:27, he instructs believers to visit widows and orphans in their distress. In James 2:1–13, he condemns favoritism toward the wealthy. Both passages emphasize putting faith into practice. Then, in James 2:14, he asks, "What use is it, my brethren," if someone has faith but no works? Notice the question concerns usefulness. James illustrates this in verses 15–16. Suppose a brother or sister lacks food and clothing, and someone says, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," but provides nothing they need. James asks, "What use is that?" The answer is obvious: Nothing! Words without action accomplish nothing. James concludes in verse 17: "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself." (NASB95) Notice "being by itself." James describes faith standing alone, without accompanying works. He does not say the faith never existed. Rather, it is inactive and unproductive. In verse 20, James calls faith without works "useless." The Greek word argos means idle or unproductive. This reinforces the practical emphasis of the passage. James also uses Abraham as an example. Abraham was justified before God by faith in Genesis 15:6, years before demonstrating his faith through obedience in Genesis 22. His works did not earn eternal life; they expressed his existing faith. Paul primarily addresses justification, while James emphasizes sanctification. Paul explains how sinners receive eternal life; James explains how believers should live. Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 3:15 teaches that a believer may suffer the loss of rewards while remaining eternally saved. Eternal life is received by faith alone in Christ alone. Works do not earn, complete, maintain, or preserve salvation. James is calling believers to exercise their faith through obedience, compassion, and service. Faith without works is dead because it is unproductive, not because it never existed. Works do not make faith saving; they make faith useful.

It's simple. Abraham was justified by his works (of faith)(not law) Hebrews breakes it down By faith you do stuff that let's you accomplishes stuff as empowered by God. That stuff is all divune expressions of salvation in and through what they did out of faith in love. God being love.

You saying you are saved by faith before and without works is you saying exactly what James is talking about. You, Ryan, are saying you are saved by faith without works. You, Ryan, are saying you are saved by a dead faith, by definition. What comes after salvation does not matter to what kind of faith it is at salvation.

James is pretty clear that obedience is a manifestation of active faith. Therefore if one claims to have faith not rooted in fruits of obedience, such faith is as good as dead.

You forgot to mention that ordinances are necessary, such as baptism. And receiving your endowment in the holy temple as Christ references in Mark 4:11 KJV.

There was no one at the altar except Abraham and Isaac. His faith was made complete because he finished what God asked of him. Not 'showing it before man'. Do we have a free response to grace or not? You presume God's POV unto salvation. We don't have that privilege.
