James Talarico is working overtime to sand the edges off his far-left record in hopes Texas voters will send him to the U.S. Senate in November. The real danger is not his makeover. It is whether enough Texans bother to show up. Turnout was only about 24% in the March primary and just 10% in the May runoff. That is the number that matters now. Low turnout is how a candidate like Talarico wins a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988.

Jesus taught about letting one’s light shine through good deeds when he said to those who would listen “You are the light of the world” in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."
