(December 4, 2024) New Orleans, Louisiana - Store employee shoots two armed robbery suspects, one fatally A store employee shot two armed robbery suspects Tuesday night in New Orleans East, leaving one suspect dead and another in custody, according to police. The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. at Sam’s Meat Market in the 8400 block of South I-10 Service Road. Police say two individuals attempted to rob the business when a worker in the store, armed with a gun, confronted them. The employee fired at both suspects, striking them. One suspect, a juvenile, was taken to the hospital where he later died. The second, 18-year-old Teony Juarez, was arrested by officer, Juarez was booked on four felony counts including armed robbery, armed robbery with a gun, aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal use of a weapon. Store manager Diaa Hamed provided Fox 8 with security camera footage of the incident. In the video, two armed robbers hold a gun to an employee’s head, demanding money and taking items out of a glass cabinet. The worker holds his hands up and complies, putting money on the counter. “They came in, and like ‘money, money, money, money’ that’s all they say,” Hamed said. The worker then reaches for a gun near the register and shoots while the robbers appear distracted. He then goes out of frame and shoots at the juvenile two more times. Police say Juarez was shot once and the juvenile was struck multiple times. The employee has not been arrested in connection with the shooting at this time. Hamed said no store workers were hurt, but they were shaken by the episode. “They was really scared. That’s why they use their guns. We all carry guns, but we hope not to use it, but in this situation we have to,” he said. Full Article:
