Japanese culture treats animals with the same respect and reverence as their art and traditions.

This is what a 'high trust society' looks li. How did they maintain it? Virtually no permanent migration of foreigners into Japan. Our academics know how mass immigration of vastly different peoples destroys a society - Howard Putnam proved it in "Bowling Alone". Our 'elite' just don't care. In fact, I think they enjoy destroying Trad American society.
