What did China do during World War II? #WWII Many neglected this part of the history. The Japanese fascist forces’ goal was to first take up China for the vast land and resources, and then attack the Soviet Union from the Eastern side when German fascists attacked it from the Western side, so these fascist forces could meet up in West Asia and continue to conquer more places. They also planned to march south and annex more countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. But the Chinese people's resistance from 1931 to 1945 tied down 80 to 94% of Japanese forces. Even after the outbreak of the Pacific War, 50 to 69% of #Japan's army remained in China (1941-1943), and before Japan's surrender in 1945, over 1.86 million troops – more than half of its overseas combat forces – were still engaged on Chinese soil. China killed, wounded, and captured 70% of the Japanese forces during WWII. For example, the Hundred-Regiment Campaign (百团大战) in Shanxi Province was a crucial battle the CPC-led Chinese army launched against the Japanese invading army. Japan had a hard time fighting the resistance forces and guerrillas in China’s rural regions, so they launched a brutal policy called “burn all, kill all, loot all” in North China. But Chinese people were not backing down. The campaign lasted from August 1940 to January 1941, 105 regiments participated, and 1824 battles occurred. I visited the museum that commemorates all the victims and heroes of the campaign. #ChinaMilitary
