🚀 Japan Successfully Tests Reusable Rocket Prototype Japan’s space agency JAXA has completed the first flight test of its RV-X experimental reusable rocket at the Noshiro Rocket Testing Center. * Reached an altitude of approximately 11 meters. * Traveled around 16 meters horizontally. * Landed vertically as planned. * The entire flight lasted less than one minute. * Future tests are expected to target altitudes of roughly 100 meters. The test came one day after China successfully recovered the booster of its Long March 10B rocket using a sea-based net system. Analyst Note: Reusable launch technology is rapidly becoming a strategic capability. Japan’s test remains small-scale compared with operational orbital boosters, but it represents an important step toward reducing launch costs and strengthening domestic space access. #DDW #Intelligence #DarkWeb #Japan

China has mastered—with greater efficiency and lower costs—a capability that was once the exclusive domain of the West. Footage from China showcases a rocket developed by Space Epoch (Beijing Jianyuan Technology), designed to be among the first Chinese rockets capable of landing at sea, being recovered, and undergoing reuse. The project relies on reusable rocket technology, paving the way for reduced launch costs and an accelerated pace of commercial spaceflight. The significance of this rocket lies not merely in its role as a new launch vehicle, but in how it reflects China’s progress in a critical modern space technology—one that enables lower costs for accessing space and a substantial increase in launch frequency. It also exemplifies the rapid growth of China’s commercial space sector and its ability to develop technologies that were long the exclusive preserve of a select few nations and companies, thereby opening the door to more frequent and cost-effective satellite launches and space missions. For China, a rocket that lands, is recovered, and is reused translates into more launches, lower costs, and a significant step toward building a large-scale space economy.

A decade. That's the gap between SpaceX landing its first reusable booster in 2015 and Blue Origin doing the same in 2025. SpaceX is already pushing for full reusability with Starship, which we believe could cut launch costs by an order of magnitude and widen the lead.
