Japan's use of "False FB" concepts to create space against man-to-man marking - Nice wrinkle to allow 10s & CMs to create width: - Importance of using ball recirculation as a trigger - Complementary players (WBs high/wide) to leave space free - Manipulating CHs tendencies OOP

@EdwardStratmann No word of a lie, Japan are one of the most impressive OOP teams I’ve watched in build up to the WC. Their back 5 being flat, stepping up onto pocket players, narrowing into a 4. Their pressing traps to encourage the ball going central and pouncing, they are TOP.

Will be looking to do these types of videos throughout the summer as time (& video availability) allows, hopefully people find them enjoyable!

@TheDevilsDNA Diagonal play is one of their indefensible strategies also.

@TheDevilsDNA Similar concept

I love the fluidness on the midfield of Japan. The technical ability and the way to operate between the lines will be a nice watch. They will look to be a fear for big nations (Starting in the opener against the Netherlands)

Some great concepts, any clips of them doing this and getting behind the Icelandic back line or creating a chance?

Cut for time, created about 4-5 box entries in sequences with this.

Makes sense, thanks, I like sharing with my players and like having the “success” moment as it helps with buy in

Ideally, but this is obviously more of a progression phase/build-up moment to get yourself into the final 3rd rather than "direct outcome" concepts. Creating false FB helps you progress the ball past a mid/high block, rather than your 10s carrying the ball 40 yards to score.

Of course, this movements a great response to the approach that Iceland took. Just helps to have clips to share with my younger players when it results in them getting into that final third from it. Great clips though

Thanks! Hope you’re well!

Thanks for sharing, Carlon 👍

ตามดูญี่ปุ่นอีกทีมครับผลงานดีมาก

Is this what Arteta was at with Timber?

Where do you get the wide angle of these games?

They know how to beat the press, Balancing of Positional + Relational in progression define this is kind of well coached team with elite players, Good thing - their 3-4-2-1 (In the Middle Sano, Kamada & Tanaka they catch up easily as their club had similar set up and shape).

Rooney, on Stick to United, is advocating for the concept of maximal width + 1 to solve our issue against 10 men. Here is why coaches have failed to do this at Man Utd: Maguire. No one wants to leave him high up with space in behind. Solution? Leny Yoro. Mark Goldbridge
