When the first flight took off from Kannur Airport in 2018, passengers joyfully sang Mappilapattu, a Muslim folk song & no-one condemned it which is absolutely correct. But when a few students sing in praise of Bharat Mata, the same voices label it “communal” or a “threat to secularism”! How easily the definition of secularism changes when the song carries a note of patriotism!
