Libertarians like Hoppe will tell you that "it doesn't matter having an hiper-inflation in pesos" because destroying the peso and enabling the dollar is the right thing to do. In reality there's people that suffer. You can't just talk about economy and disregard everything else.

Hoppee has been poisoning libertarianism for too long. I’d wager his criticism of Milei was disguised as Econ but was really motived by Milei support of Israel. The difference between Milei and La La Libertarians is he understands power, politics and responsibility.

Milei is right. Bringing the blue dollar in line with the official rate and having the central bank accumulate dollar reserves to exchange for pesos when it's closed is a much smoother process than just suddenly closing up the bank day one.

Hoppe: Who is that guy?

In summary: if the Central Bank was suddenly closed the pesos, which are its liabilities, would have become worthless overnight, and the economy would have crashed badly.
