My wife woke up with a terrible headache and was contemplating calling in sick. I was like call in sick for what now?! I reminded her that provision is her shield in this marriage and that if she loses this job, I’d be left with no option but to disrespect and beat her because I’m wired to beat a woman who doesn’t provide. If i am doing the most difficult job on earth by cleaning the house, washing plates, taking care of the home whether I’m sick or not, the least she can do is go to work. At around 2:30 this morning, my mother Kathleen Bonfilio lost her battle with cancer. I had planned a trip for this week and I was just there last week but living 3,000 miles with responsibilities back her I away I knew there was a possibility this could happen. My godmother was by her side the whole time and it was peaceful. The last thing she said to me on Monday was I love you. I told her I would see her when I’m done here, and I plan to keep that promise. Goodbye for now, Mom. Take care of Sal and Dad for me, I’ll take care of things down here, I love you.

“I wanted to quit tennis in 2018. In March I lost the first round in Miami, I said I can’t., I just have to go somewhere and so on. Then I went with my family, we were in the Dominican Republic with our friends and there was a tennis court, they started playing so after I don’t know after how many days of break I didn’t go near a court or play tennis anymore. My wife says I’m a “messy cook” because I don’t clean as I go like she does. I’m the same way with software and music: I focus on what I’m doing so I can keep moving forward, then I clean up when I’m done. Cleaning as I go distracts me from the task at hand. Marc Andreessen recently said that when writing software it takes 2 hours to get into what you’re doing, then you work for 10 hours then take another 2 to unplug. That’s the kind of clarinet practicing I did in my 20s – it was maniacal but it got me where I wanted to go.
