MARARABA, NASARAWA: After speaking with sources on the ground and all the groups mentioned (Army, Vikings, and Aye), Naija Confra can now confirm that the Aso, Mararaba incident was not cvlt-related and had nothing to do with Aye, even though residents identified two Ayes among the soldiers. Vikings confirmed that Bobo Jay (a notorious Vikings cvltist, street tout, and drvg dealer) att@cked a soldier named Elephant, whom they claimed was an Aye. That att@ck led to his arrest, and after he was released, another confrontation occurred between them and soldiers, during which a stray bull£t k!lled an innocent person. They first claimed that none of the soldiers involved were Ayes and all are active-duty soldiers. They explained that the whole issue began after Elephant opened a bar and was running his business peacefully. About a week later, Bobo Jay (top right) and his Vikings squad, including Biggie Rasta (bottom right), HOD, Emperor, and many others, invaded the bar, scattered and stole things, because Elephant did not “settle” them before opening the bar. As they left, Bobo Jay threatened to return in the evening. Elephant made calls, soldiers came, and Bobo Jay was arrested. Later, some Vikings begged on his behalf and promised to pay for everything stolen and damag£d, which was why he was released and not be@ten. 5 years ago today, life as I knew it vanished: a cascade of symptoms I couldn’t name, days that blurred into months. A body that betrayed me. Hope that turned into confusion. I was a wife, a mom and I believed in the promise of science. I rolled up my sleeve and got my shot not because I thought I was invincible, but because I believed in contributing to something bigger than myself. If I could, I would never wish this on anyone. 2025 has been the hardest year yet. Promises made. Yet the door to healing never opened. Month after month, I find myself asking: Was all of this for nothing? Has it all been in vain? Then last weekend, kindly invited me to the 5th Annual Brownstone Event. What I expected to be a simple gathering of like-minded people turned into something unexpected. Jay Bhattacharya and closed out the event reminding us of the beautiful community in which we now find ourselves, forged through the last 5 years. Reminding us of the priceless wisdom we have gained and the importance of continuing to make sure these injustices never happen again. Finally after a closing prayer by Fr. John Naugle, the entire room fell silent, literally left speechless, moved and changed. Grief and uncertainty, was replaced with purpose, resolve, and love of country and our fellow humans. Both of these men reminded me that this is anything but senseless. Even in the wreckage, there is purpose. Our suffering bears witness to truth, to courage, and to the power of human spirit. That hollow space that’s grown in me this past year, created by disappointment and uncertainty, filled again. Not with answers, but with a renewed sense of meaning. A reminder that light still exists, and that what we’ve endured can still serve something greater than ourselves. I still don’t have the answers. But I’ve learned that meaning doesn’t come after the pain, it’s something we create through it. “It ruptured my entire understanding of my own country.” Charlie Peters was 18 when he first encountered the story that has shaken Great Britain to the core. A government report had just landed, revealing something unimaginable. “It literally took me out of the sort of medieval cloisters I was studying in, and brought the real world to my front door via the front page of The Times [of London] newspaper.” The 2014 report by Professor Alexis Jay documented unspeakable crimes committed over more than a decade in the Yorkshire town of Rotherham. “Over 1,400 children, most of them girls, most of them white,” he said, “had been systematically exploited, abused, trafficked, in some cases tortured, in the most barbarous and heinous abuse imaginable.” But what shocked Peters was not only the horror — it was the silence. “Actually, the abuse had gone on for much longer.” The case, he says, was not just about Rotherham. “It wasn’t just Rotherham and a handful of northern towns and cities. This was a truly national crisis.” Peters grew up in Surrey, “which… I suppose is like the Connecticut of England.” His was “a very beautiful, luxurious, safe and healthy, happy childhood.” Jay’s report changed everything. “It changed the course of my life, that report. You must understand that I worked for Columbia Pictures, which was Poverty Row. It was Siberia to the M-G-M stars. So we were about to abandon the picture because nobody wanted to play it. I said maybe it wasn't any good anyhow, the hell with it, let’s give it up, when Louis Mayer called Harry Cohn, head of Columbia, and said, “Herschel, I have a bad boy down here I'd like to punish. I want you to use Clark Gable—I want to punish him.” So Mr. Cohn told me, “We've got to make the picture now,” and he said, “We’ve got to make it—Louis Mayer wants to punish Clark Gable.” But it was this picture that made him a very big star. Too bad he didn’t continue with this lighter kind of he-man character rather than the unfunny he-man character."
