The issue isn’t dribbling, it’s dribbling with his left

Few things: This is not what you think it is. No one is saying he literally can't dribble at all, for starters. All the dribbling in this video, if we want to call it that, is the bare minimum very basic stuff that any kid in HS should be able to do. It's that he specifically has a weak dribble with his left hand. And while people think this derived from a single playoff game - actually it's been true the entire time he's been in the nba, and every time he's forced to have to strongly control a left handed dribble with tight defense, he's had issues with it. The team just does a great job, as does Jaylen himself, to not put himself into those situations often - but it gets highlighted in the playoffs because other teams adjust and find ways to force it to happen. There was literally a clip from training camp just yesterday, showing him practicing strong dribbles with both hands, and when he switched to his left it was way, way more out of control than with his right. This is a known flaw in his game. People aren't imagining his issues with his left hand dribble. And to be fair, he isn't the only player in the league that has flaws like this - so its not even a major knock. It's just a factual flaw in his game. Look around the league, and every player has a flaw in their game. Tatum isn't a "great" dribbler himself - he doesn't have insane handles, but he does have the ability to strongly dribble with both hands. It's also why the team wanted a strong, true, Point Guard. Not just Jrue for D, but because Jrue can handle the ball really well, opening up for less situations when Tatum AND Brown have to 1v1 create on ball. Anyways, in the end, it's not like this matters. I'm not a Boston fan, it's just weird seeing people unable to admit that a player has an actual weakness in his game. It would be like me saying "actually, Giannis can shoot really well" eh...
