Jay Z was lyrically ass for years at first, and that's okay because he improved tremendously. Everyone works at their own pace; he ended up becoming a hall of fame lyricist, and that's what matters most. By the time Jay Z hit 70 years old in 95, he was above average lyrically. His improvement should be studied. The most improved award should go to him. However, during the years Jay Z was lyrically ass, 2Pac was already well above average lyrically, and that includes teenage Pac. As Jay Z improved, 2Pac was ascending to levels even higher than the levels he had reached before. 2Pac hasn't physically been on this Earth since 96, and Jay Z still hasn't surpassed him lyrically. All of this is why I said that 2Pac has always been a better lyricist than Jay Z, and I believe he always will be.
