JD Vance has said that “every civil servant” should be fired and replaced with partisan loyalists — “our people.” That’s a threat to Virginia’s economy and an attack on the career public servants in our federal workforce.

@djrothkopf Vance is only half right. All the government employees he mentioned should be fired, but they shouldn’t be replaced at all. We need massive spending cuts in every government department and agency.

That is also a variation of policy suggestions right out of Project 2025. The statement from the Trump campaign suggesting he is not in favor of P2025 is nothing more than doublespeak.

As a civil servant I can say with confidence, this is a good idea. Let them re-compete and earn their six figure salaries.

When you lose institutional knowledge, the institution suffers greatly. Retirement is one way that knowledge is lost, but firings for no good reason can cause a tsunami of lost knowledge.

This is a very Communist move. When the VC took over Vietnam after the fall of Saigon, the gov't fired all of the employees who worked in the previous administration. My family suffered it. The press also should ask Hung Cao about this.
