JD Vance steals the night from underwhelming Tim Walz. Polished performance by Vance shows Republicans have learned from the presidential debates that optics for swing voters are everything, writes Keith Duggan

Irish Times must have been hacked. This is probably the first alternative perspective on any issue I have seen published in a number of years. Quick get that lunatic Kitty Holland to write some far left liberal nonsense that never happened.

Looking for the perfect PRO-TRUMP gag gift?

Walz was deep-fried, then baked. He wasn't even in the race.

The Irish Times going completely off plantation here. The Indo watched a completely different debate it seems. 🤡

What are you talking about? Did you actually watch the debate? Who’s paying you for this shit?

Vance is a leader, Walz in his own words is a knucklehead

Duggan doesn’t think very highly of American voters, clearly. I don’t blame him, but the truth is, in contrast to his vile running mate, Vance appeared diplomatic & decent, yes, but in comparison to Walz, who is genuinely decent & diplomatic with actual policy to boot, he paled.

Based on that, Walz was far superior

"steals the night" ah did he? You mean like if someone had left the night at a bike stand in O'Connell St

Can you not hear beyond tone? The “you said you weren’t going to fact check” is an all time doozy

This is a pleasant change from the Irish Times. An unbiased assessment of an aspect of the US election. Now wait for the unhinged GloboHomoWoke fanatics to squeal and shriek.

Nonsense! Keith must have been watching a different debate from the rest of us.

Vance can repeat lies in as slick a manner as he likes, it doesn’t make them any less lies.

Wow for once I agree with @IrishTimes

Except for the lies, deflections, projecting,... Vance would make a good used car dealer in Oklahoma, but that's about it.

Just because Johnny Donuts lies faster than his Orange cult leader and he has no redeeming characteristics doesn’t point to swing voters voting republican.

Complete rubbish @IrishTimes Keith duggan is clearly biased. Not good journalism.

Seriously? Vance did a TED talk, Walz more factual

“People who fail to regard the truth seriously in small matters, cannot be trusted in matters that are great.” Albert Einstein Irish Times! You are normalizing lies! You are no better than Vance because you repeat his lies with no fact checking.

Not true!
