Jean Charest: "Bombardier has more American content in their planes than Gulfstream. So if they choose to go ahead with this, not only are they going to shoot themselves in the foot, they're gonna shoot themselves in both feet."

Well makes total sense Bombardier should move to the US.

Trump is not smart enough to realize what he is doing to himself.

“Bombardier, a Canadian company, can’t make it’s airplanes without American parts” may not be the flex you think it is.

You're talking about ideologues who are largely moronic in their beliefs. Math and economics are clearly not of their strong suits, and nor is history.

Bombardier will be foreced to move there operations to the US. They'll have little choice.

Rumour has it Bombardier is looking at parts outside of the US in case they need to make changes. How many American jobs is trump possibly killing by faafo.

Charest was never popular and, like herpes, he only surfaces when the body (nation) is weak.

@bruceanderson None of this matters because we are dealing with a con man who doesn’t care about his country or its citizens. Only about himself.

True. It’s economics 101: a course like many others, he doesn’t remember ever following. 😕✨🇨🇦

Oil in Alberta, could have enriched the country and improved life for all. But Ottawa's beliefs, prejudices and fears. Made Alberta Oil the enemy, and fairy tale NetZero the future.

The Wichita, KS facility has space for expansion and the Texas facility can be expanded. It should be easy for Bombardier to manufacture it's US market products in the US. Canadian operations that service the other customers, including China, can stay put. Voila! Situation solved.

Don’t quote Jean Charest. It’s like quoting xCIA John Brennan both are pathological liars

What an incredible admission. Liberal governments have wasted billions of dollars bailing out Bombardier for decades. While they continued to run their company inefficiently and paying their executives exorbitant bonuses, all to admit that they have "more American content in their planes..." Canadians are truly the most politically ignorant and brain washed citizens in the world.

Hmmmm, why does Bombardier have so much American content? Must be because they can get that content anywhere, but out of pity they chose the American parts😂😂😂

Look up the backlog for commercial jets. That’s right, 17-18,000 jets. 10 years worth. You don’t think Boeing or Airbus wouldn’t step in and make use of this newly freed up resource?

Those suppliers can supply American companies, the interest in jets in America doesn't disappear.

Charest’s central point deserves an answer from Washington. Bombardier reports roughly 2,800 American suppliers across 47 states and more than $2.5 billion in annual spending with U.S. suppliers. Those businesses have a stake in the aircraft being sold. The exact comparison with Gulfstream needs a documented breakdown by aircraft model. But the American exposure is already substantial. A Canadian name on the aircraft does not mean its economic benefits stop at the border. Before threatening its sales, explain what happens to the American companies helping build it.

Bombardier will cease to exist. The business will quickly be absorbed by US manufacturing and you know it.

No concept of relative mass. Even if America is hurt more by an action America comes down with a cold & Canada gets turbo aids.

Trump est un idiot. Il ne comprend pas les bases du commerce mondial. Il ne comprend pas l'interdépenance entre Canada et États Unis créé par le libre-échange.

Bombardier will move it's factory to America to avoid the tariffs.

So it makes even more sense to move to America bc they can’t make planes without Americans anyway.
