Times Square - New York City 🇺🇸 The origin of this place was known as Long Acre Square, but it was renamed Times Square after being located in 1904, at the intersection of 42nd Street, the offices of the New York Times. In 1913, the newspaper’s offices moved to 229 43rd Street, and the building was renamed 1 Times Square in 1961. History of Times Square, at the beginning of the 20th century, Times Square became one of the most important places in New York City, with the construction of theaters, restaurants and luxury and first class hotels. The site began to change in the 30’s where it became a dangerous place with prostitution, crime and drugs, this lasted for more than half a century. History of Times Square During the 1980s, Mayors Ed Koch and David Dinkins began a redevelopment project for Midtown Manhattan that included Times Square. In the 1990s, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani tackled the project to clean up the area with the closure of pornographic theaters, sex shops and the purchase of the nine historic theaters on 42nd Street by the State of New York. Times Square is located between 7th Avenue and Broadway, and 42nd and 47th streets, it is currently the heart of the city in general and of the New York theater district in particular. The entire area is illuminated day and night by large illuminated signs and huge television screens, this has made it famous throughout the world, as well as the descent of the Crystal ball every December 31 from the top of 1 Times Square announcing the new Year. Up to two million people flocked to Times Square to ring in the year 2000 with the lowering of Waterford’s Millennial Crystal Ball, a huge Swarovski crystal ball made specifically for this event. The north end of the square, between 46th and 47th Streets, is known as Duffy Square in honor of Father Francis P. Duffy, chaplain of the New York Regiment of Infantry during World War II. Half-price same-day Broadway show tickets are available at the TKTS Box Office, located in the center of Duffy Square. The ticket offices, renovated in 2008, are covered on its roof with wide steps in the form of a staircase that allow visitors to sit or enjoy a panoramic view. On May 25, 2009, the city council temporarily closed the section of Broadway that runs through Times Square to pedestrian traffic. The experiment was a great success and it has become a permanent pedestrian plaza where the place is more enjoyable with new metal benches, chairs and tables. Times Square has its own police station, its street cleaning company, and its tourist office that has all the information about the city, and it is also a small museum dedicated to this important square. Times Square wouldn’t be recognizable without its amazing illuminated signs. An image that is admired by two million people who pass through this square every day and many millions more in the world who enjoy it through photographs, paintings, cinema and television. Times Square began to fill with large advertisements in 1916, when the City Council encouraged its installation in this part of the city. Since then there are many who have passed through here, some true works of art. In addition, they played an important role in the remodeling of the square during its most decadent period: as a measure of pressure on the city’s rulers, one night their neighbors turned off all the signs for 15 minutes. The measure had excellent results and the negotiation was carried out. Today, a municipal ordinance obliges the buildings in this area to give up their facade for the installation of such advertisements. 🎥 : Times Square in 1932 (Colorized) 🎥© lostintimevid (IG) #archaeohistories

SquiggleDAO has placed Squiggle #8434 at the MACBA Museum in Argentina where it will be permanently displayed using the Squiggle Display Station! 🎉🎉🎉 MACBA Buenos Aires (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires) is a leading institution in Argentina’s contemporary art scene, widely recognized for its deep focus on geometric and abstract art. Its collection emphasizes form, color, structure, and systems, creating a strong dialogue between historical geometric movements and contemporary practices. This curatorial focus makes MACBA an important platform for works rooted in logic, repetition, and visual rhythm. The museum’s holdings include significant works by key figures in geometric and kinetic art, most notably Julio Le Parc, whose practice explores perception, movement, and viewer participation. Alongside Le Parc, MACBA’s collection reflects a broader lineage of Latin American and international geometric abstraction, reinforcing its role as a steward of systematic and perceptual art traditions. Within this context, the Chromie Squiggle is a natural and compelling fit. MACBA has recently added a Squiggle to their permanent collection and will become the first museum to permanently display a Squiggle, a major achievement given how rare permanent displays are compared to temporary exhibitions! The museum is also the first to present the work using the Display Station, creating an interactive experience that allows visitors to engage directly with generative digital art and marking an important milestone in its institutional adoption. The Display Station will also be permanently installed at the front of the museum in order to maximize exposure and usage. The glass storefront allows anyone walking by to experience the Squiggle, maximizing exposure to foot traffic.

Substantial exchange as always with HM عبدالله بن الحسين in New York to discuss the EU-Jordan partnership and the situation in the Middle East. On Gaza, I commended the extraordinary efforts made by Jordan to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. The EU’s priority is to improve the humanitarian situation and to secure a ceasefire, as well as the release of all hostages. We agreed that it is important to maintain the momentum from the conference solution happening tomorrow in New York at the UN to advance on a renewed political process. The Two-State solution remains the only sustainable, long-term solution for peace and security in Israel and the region.

I had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the European Council meeting today in Brussels. I thanked Emmanuel for his clear and principled stance in support of Ukraine and the need for new, more substantial steps to protect our entire Europe—our peoples, our institutions, and our European way of life. We discussed the upcoming meeting on March 11 at the level of military representatives of the countries willing to put in greater efforts to ensure reliable security in the context of ending this war. We coordinated our positions and next steps. We have an absolutely clear shared vision that real and lasting peace is possible through cooperation between Ukraine, all of Europe, and the United States. The war must end as soon as possible.

Here’s a sneak peek of the Sigma Lumina room, inspired by my piece with Lescure at Musée d'Orsay At a moment when the hyper-materialization of the world is questioning our habits and our reality, At a moment when science is about to demonstrate that an atom can be both a particle and a wave, Could the metaverse become the experimental hall for more discoveries? DeeKay + People = DeePle For his new work titled ‘DeePle The People’, South Korean artist DeeKay turns his eye to Hong Kong, rendering the Asian metropolis in his signature style. Characterized by nostalgic video game aesthetics and joyful tenderness, the 24-second animation is a buzzing celebration of the city. He renders Hong Kong as both a specific place, and a universal locale on the world’s cultural stage. Commissioned by Art Basel Hong Kong and Hong Kong Tourism Board, ‘DeePle The People’ will be projected onto the Hong Kong Club Building from March 24, from 7:30pm to 11pm and March 25 to 29, 2026 every evening from 7pm to 11pm. DeeKay’s artwork is also on view in his solo booth with AOTM Gallery (Z5) at Art Basel Hong Kong, as part of the Zero 10 digital art initiative’s Asia debut.

Today, at Redeemer’s University Redeemer's University, Ede, Osun State, I was glad to commission the new Institute of Genomics and Global Health, marking a significant evolution from ACEGID’s @acegid status as a center of excellence. This moment is not only a proud achievement for all those involved, but it also stands as a powerful symbol of what African scientific leadership can achieve on the global stage. Under the visionary leadership of Prof Christian Happi Christian T. Happi, the team at ACEGID has made extraordinary strides in genomic research, particularly in addressing some of the most pressing infectious disease challenges of our time. The inauguration of the Institute reminds us that the work being done by the ACEGID team is a global public good, benefiting not only Nigeria and Africa but also contributing to global health security. The partnerships fostered between institutions and scientists from the Global North and South are a testament to our shared commitment to protecting and advancing human health. This collaboration has demonstrated what is possible when we work together to confront challenges that affect us all. Under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bola Ahmed Tinubu health security remains a central pillar of our broader strategy to transform Nigeria’s health system, unlock the value chain, and improve population health outcomes. This is why supporting cutting-edge scientific research, like the work at this Institute, is essential. We need to create a health system environment with strong public health capabilities to withstand the potential and evolving threats posed by infectious diseases and the ongoing impacts of climate change. The pace at which new health threats are emerging is accelerating, and with it, the need for robust scientific responses. The innovations in genomics we are witnessing at ACEGID provide a glimmer of hope, offering us the tools we need to be better prepared for what may come. The Federal Government of Nigeria Government of Nigeria is fully committed to supporting these efforts, knowing that science must lead the way in securing a healthier future for all.

Canada and the European Union have just launched a new era of partnership in security and defence. In a more divided and dangerous world, we’re keeping people safe by reinforcing our abilities to counter cyber, hybrid, and emerging threats — together. Canada will build ever-stronger alliances to support our security and prosperity, both at home and for our partners.

Today in Munich, Germany. An important day, and there will be new steps toward our shared security – that of Ukraine and Europe. On the agenda is the first joint Ukrainian-German drone production enterprise, as well as bilateral and multilateral meetings with partners. We need more of our joint production, more of our resilience, more coordination and effectiveness of our shared security architecture in Europe. The most significant thing we can achieve together is ending the war with a dignified peace and creating reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and for all of Europe – so that no one in Europe is afraid of being left without protection. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

The situation in the Middle East right now is serious, and many people in the region are going through uncertain times. Dubai and the entire Gulf region have always been incredibly important for our films and for our boss. Millions of Indians live and work there, and a massive fan base of Rocking Star stands proudly in that region. For a film of this scale, the experience is meant to be shared together by fans across the world at the same time. When such a large section of our audience is facing tension and uncertainty, it only makes sense to wait for the right moment so everyone can celebrate the film together in theatres. This decision shows responsibility and respect for fans everywhere. Cinema is about bringing people together, and the goal is for every fan, whether in India, Dubai, or anywhere in the world, to enjoy the experience without worry. Real fans understand this. The celebration will be bigger when the time is right. 🔥
