I’m not sure how Passan comes to the conclusion that this contradicts a pro cap argument. If the dodgers owner is able to spend insane amounts of money relative to other teams, regardless of whether it was invested illegally, it even further reinforces the need for a cap.

So he managed to spin this whole saga into an anti-cap argument?? If the Dodgers spending had been on the “up and up” then there wouldn’t be an argument for a cap, but if the Dodgers were fudging numbers, that’s even less of an argument. Well I guess we’re done here, folks!

Mark Walter is such a fraud that he decided to entirely or partially fund the Dodgers payroll with improperly invested insurance funds, and instead of just…pocketing the money, he authorizes spending $500 million on payroll and luxury taxes. This is the stupidest system and argument in history.

Any justification is just a different wording of this
