Pete Aguilar just destroyed the Trump and Republican talking point on deportations. “House Democrats firmly believe that violent criminals should not be on our streets and if there are undocumented individuals who are violent criminals, they should be deported. That is our position… it should follow a process. It should include getting warrants for individuals — judicial warrants, not fake phony ICE warrants — when they want to grab somebody. They have a process to do that and it should be to use the courts in order to execute warrants that keep this country safe.”

Q: Is it your posture to put more restrictions on ICE as a condition for funding DHS? JEFFRIES: Renee Good should be alive today. There was no justification for that killing. Clearly there are common sense measures that need to put in place so that ICE can conduct itself in a manner at least consistent with every other law enforcement agency in the US. That's not too much to ask. Instead, they're running around out of control.

Whatever word you want to use, what we need to get to is the end result: ICE should not exist as it exists. And DHS should not exist as it exists. There’s no reason for DHS to exist. It used to be handled out of the Department of Justice as a civil matter. Now it’s been criminalized. It’s been put into this massive agency that was created after 9/11 that should not be there.
