Jesus also prayed in multiple postures. He looked upward to heaven when praying (John 17:1), and Mark describes him falling on the ground in Gethsemane (Mark 14:35). Scripture does not prescribe one mandatory physical sequence as the uniquely correct form of Christian prayer. Most importantly, look at whom Jesus said to address: “Our Father which art in heaven…” (Matt. 6:9). Jesus was a Jew praying to his Father, the God of Israel, within a Jewish tradition that existed centuries before Islam. Muslims resembling an ancient Jewish or Christian prayer posture doesn’t make Jesus Muslim. Chronologically, the borrowing argument runs in exactly the opposite direction.
