This is the engine for the SR-71, the J-58. It still is a engineering marvel. Developed during the slide rule days.

Military jet engine … only they use after burners to give that concentrated power. Concorde used them too, but commercial jets don’t use them now.

That's from an F-15. Easy to tell because the variable nozzle lacks the usual "petals" found on most other jet engines. Full afterburner on display here.
