It’s actually a happy day!! It’s happy and serious. Fasting is just to atone for sins & try to be for one day like Angels who don’t need to eat. Many have 3 feasts 2 before one after because it’s not like the fast where we mourn but one of cleansing & opportunity. You supplied them with dessert for the feast! But ye it’s funny to bring cupcakes on a fast day !! It’s the thought that counts, right ?
