Jim Gavin outlining changes to dissent: - Underage sin-bin (sub permitted) - Free advanced 50m for dissent - Dissent from manager = 13m free I support all three of these. It’s time to change the GAA culture towards referees.

Leaving this to the referees discretion is a recipe for disaster, club football referees are horrific as it is

Probably not important in the scheme of things but Jim really needs different glasses….find it hard to take him serious with those thick rims 😬

I like them!

Every referee in the country looks at dissent differently , saw a guy being sent off for saying ah for fucks sake ref. A good ref can deal with without any new rule. Look at Collina , he had respect , no dissent.

Only thing I don’t agree is if you don’t give your opponent the ball 50m. Put it on the ground and off with you

Works in amateur soccer. Was surprised coming from GAA how quick referees were to pull out yellow and red cards for dissent. And it works

I agree totally that the culture towards Refs needs to change, but also and as important is the standard of refs, with the time, energy and effort that player's and management are putting in, frustrations/anger are very difficult to control in the face of poor/biased referees

Dissent does need looked at but giving club refs a licence to advance a ball 50 plus meters will ruin club games more consistency is needed around tackles etc and I am a former referee

I think we’ve been beating around the bush too long with this. Proper punishment will change behaviour for the better. I’ve seen some great work at underage GAA in Dublin in terms of this already.

I like what he’s trying to do. Will make referees jobs even harder though with the amount of things they have to manage. The sin bin etc. lots of juvenile matches wouldn’t even have linesmen so a lot for the ref to be dealing with
