Jim McDowell RIP

Sad to hear this. Put up with a lot of flack, especially during the dark days when we lost Martin O'Hagan.

No way. Sorry to hear. I remember my first day of work experience at the Sunday World. Met him down the pub (he had a bulletproof vest on) around 2pm and somehow staggered out about 8pm. He said he always got his best stories in bars! RIP.

@JP_Biz Big pastie supper McDowell, God bless 🙏🏻, he diffenitly upset plenty of people, the big man had balls that's for sure, I think he was from the Pass.

Very sad. A giant in his field.

@sylvesterhakin Terrible news, I knew Jim, we shared a few nights out. A good man.

Aw Mark. Such sad news. Funny man, great journalist. RiP

A decent big man, a fearless journalist and a larger than life character. Got his best stories in the pub. RIP Jim
