Middle East Expert Adam Weinstein (Quincy Institute) The attack on Lebanon might be a deliberate sabotage, or Israel trying to get as many strikes as it can before there’s a comprehensive agreement, or Israelis trying to make sure that their concerns in Lebanon are at the table. But it's undermining the ceasefire. Pakistani PM announced the ceasefire included Lebanon. So it has already been violated. Not only southern Beirut, nowhere is safe from Israeli strikes in Lebanon & that’s a real escalation. Both sides are pretending the ceasefire is real, to try to get some progress in Islamabad. But cease fires that work are the exception, not the rule. If attacks continue, it will fall apart at some point.
