Today, I defended your right to a fair trial by voting against the government’s Courts and Tribunals Bill, which seeks to erode the right to a jury trial for a number of serious offences that carry sentences of up to three years. The Justice Secretary has put his fingers in his ears, despite the entire legal sector sounding the alarm, that scrapping jury trials will do absolutely nothing to bring down the spiralling court backlog and threatens a cornerstone of our justice system. I will now seek to amend the bill on the bill committee, which will take place after Easter.

I joined my fellow ActionSA supporters for a picket this afternoon with a simple demand: A working justice system for South Africa. Justice for you and I isn’t possible without a well functioning National Prosecuting Authority. We can’t have communities saying that they can’t report cases of rape because they’ve been failed by the justice system. It can't be that the justice system is meant to protect the most vulnerable, but the most vulnerable don't feel it. All of the failures we’ve seen so far can be reversed with a change of leadership at the NPA. ActionSA

It's pretty wild that in 2020 Democrats chose Joe Biden as the guy to fight racism and to reform the criminal justice system. "Joe's got so much empathy and compassion!" 😂 In 2020 Biden actually claimed that he was never in favor of minimum sentences or building more prisons. Laughable lies but of course the MSM let him get away with it. Chances are if you are a person who is currently claiming that the criminal justice system is racist and unfair, you also voted for this guy.
