A lesser-known fact about Joe Cocker is that he briefly worked as an apprentice gas fitter for the East Midlands Gas Board (later British Gas) in his youth while pursuing his music career. Before achieving fame with hits like "With a Little Help from My Friends," Cocker balanced his early performances in Sheffield pubs with this day job, showcasing his working-class roots. This practical trade was a fallback option he considered returning to at one point, as noted in a story where he expressed doubts about continuing his singing career, only to be persuaded otherwise by a friend or colleague. This glimpse into his early life highlights the determination it took for him to transition from a tradesman to an international music icon.

Now I have to look up when John Belushi sang with him on SNL.

I do prefer Ringo’s but this is one of the greatest cover songs of all time, and if you said you prefers Joe’s I could see why.

I saw Joe live in 2008. He sounded just as good, if not better, than this!
